Dear RTR Players, Families and Friends,

 

This year marks our 12^th year playing the Alumni Rivalry Soccer Match between South High and West High and we are set to Re-unite once again to celebrate the life and memory of Scott Johnson, and RE-LIVE THE RIVALRY between the two high schools. This event has been a huge success thus far and to date we have raised tens of thousands of dollars for the Lymphoma Research Foundation and mostly have had fun and friendly games with our historical Torrance Soccer Friends and Foes.

 

This year we have made some exciting changes which we think will infuse some new energy into the game. First of all, we will have the Big Rivalry Soccer Game as always, along with the Raffle and Memorial Plaque Dedication and the after Party Celebration.

 

New Location – New Name

 

This year's game will be hosted at West High and the following year at South High. As a result we have re-named the event “Re-Live The Rivalry – Coming Home!”. The event will now be played at the very locations where the Rivalry was born.

 

This year we have secured the West High Stadium Field with the assistance of the current West High Soccer coach as a fund-raising Event, which helps with the costs of playing at the school. Your donations for the game will go directly to the respective current West and South High Soccer programs.

 

Post-Game Location

 

After the game we have reserved space at Jimmy's Grill and Bar Restaurant located on the corner of Inglewood Ave and 190^th Street. Jimmy's is family friendly with delicious food and drinks, a kid’s meal menu, easy parking and over 20 TV screens showing lots of sports. Please note we chose this neighborhood location due to its very appropriate family oriented ambiance and everyone of all ages is welcome.

YOU are invited to participate again this year in the Big Rivalry Game. Sign up promptly, then please pick up the phone and contact any other Alumni players and friends whom we have been unable to get in touch with for the previous years and get them to play and be there. All players from the 60’s, 70’s and 80’s are invited to play.

Times and Game Location

 

This year’s game will be played Saturday, June 6th, 2015, at West High School Stadium, 20401 Victor Street, Torrance, and CA. at 11:00 am (Warm-ups at 10 am). Your tax-deductible donations will benefit the respective soccer programs. All non-players (friends, families, wives, ex-wives, parents) are asked to pay a $5.00 entrance fee per person to help defray the costs of hosting the event. Children 12 and under are free.

 

Can't make the game??? ...and still want to donate??

 

We gratefully will accept any donations to help the West and South High Soccer Teams. Just fill out the form and send a check made out to: “Re-Live the Rivalry” . We will send you a receipt for the Tax man.
