What's not to love about being Italian?  

Wonderful meals, memorable family gatherings, and stories of Morcone!

I have always had a strong passion for family and my mother and grandmother nurtured it. My mother kept a genealogy of sorts for both sides of her family. When we heard news from Italy that a new baby was born or someone was married, she recorded it all. I know my grandmother kept in close contact with her family and her husband's family through letters.  I can picture her at the dining room table writing letters using the thin "onion-skin" stationery. Oh how, we got excited when a letter arrived from Italy. Undoubtedly it included family news, photos, and sometimes- torrone!!  

Through the years, I have attempted to find out more about my ancestors, the Iannellis and the Santuccis, but also have reached out to second and third cousins, and have continued to add to the family history. I also love photography and collecting old family photos and had amassed quite a collection, inheriting my mothers photos, and the photos sent to my grandmother through the years.  In addition, I am keenly interested in genealogy and have done a bit of research on the website, FamilySearch.com*.  

So, I collected genealogical information, photos, and family lore. I interviewed cousins for their recollections. At first, I was going to write a book, but felt it would be a bit overwhelming, so I decided to create this website. I hope you will send me more stories and photos, and share with me and others what you are now doing. There is a "Family Forum" for you to post photos and updates, similar to a Facebook page. However, this website is totally private.  I have set up a totally secure website, which will only be open to family members by my invitation. I also pledge to respect your privacy at all times, and no personal information will be shared with contacting you first. 

This is a work in progress. I will try to work on this bit by bit, so the pages and information will change. Any pages that are inactive are currently blank.

Cosa non amare dell'essere italiani?

Pasti meravigliosi, riunioni di famiglia memorabili e storie di Morcone!

Ho sempre avuto una forte passione per la famiglia e mia madre e mia nonna l'hanno coltivata. Mia madre ha mantenuto una sorta di genealogia per entrambi i lati della sua famiglia. Quando abbiamo saputo dall'Italia che era nato un bambino o che qualcuno si era sposato, ha registrato tutto. So che mia nonna è rimasta in stretto contatto con la sua famiglia e con la famiglia di suo marito attraverso le lettere. Riesco a immaginarla al tavolo della sala da pranzo a scrivere lettere usando la sottile carta da lettere "pelle di cipolla". Oh come, ci siamo emozionati quando è arrivata una lettera dall'Italia. Indubbiamente includeva notizie di famiglia, foto e qualche volta torrone!!

Nel corso degli anni, ho cercato di saperne di più sui miei antenati, gli Iannelli e i Santucci, ma ho anche contattato i cugini di secondo e terzo grado e ho continuato ad arricchire la storia della famiglia. Amo anche la fotografia e collezionare vecchie foto di famiglia e ho accumulato una bella collezione, ereditando le foto di mia madre e le foto inviate a mia nonna nel corso degli anni. Inoltre, sono molto interessato alla genealogia e ho fatto un po' di ricerche sul sito web FamilySearch.com*.

Quindi, ho raccolto informazioni genealogiche, foto e tradizioni familiari. Ho intervistato i cugini per i loro ricordi. All'inizio stavo per scrivere un libro, ma sentivo che sarebbe stato un po' travolgente, quindi ho deciso di creare questo sito web. Spero che mi invierai più storie e foto e condividerai con me e gli altri ciò che stai facendo ora. C'è un "Forum della famiglia" per postare foto e aggiornamenti, simile a una pagina Facebook. Tuttavia, questo sito Web è totalmente privato. Ho creato un sito Web totalmente sicuro, che sarà aperto ai membri della famiglia solo su mio invito. Mi impegno inoltre a rispettare la tua privacy in ogni momento e nessuna informazione personale verrà condivisa contattandoti prima.

Si tratta di un lavoro in corso. Cercherò di lavorare su questo un po' alla volta, così le pagine e le informazioni cambieranno. Tutte le pagine inattive sono attualmente vuote.
