Giovanni Iannelli was born 3 May 1884 in the village of Morcone, in the province of Benevento. He was the second child, and the first-born son of Raphael and Cristina. In 1909 he emigrated to the U.S.  He settled in Boston and worked as a carpenter and also arranged for the emigration of six other brothers and sisters, which led to the Iannelli family spreading throughout the U.S. Hundreds of Iannellis and their descendants  in America owe a debt of gratitude to this hard-working young man who diligently sent money back to Italy so his siblings could realize a better life in the U.S. where jobs were more plentiful.  In the 1910 Boston Directory he is listed as a cabinetmaker and was living with two of his brothers, Tomasso and Nicolas. He returned to Italy in 1913  when his mother became seriously ill.  Since, his father had already died unexpectedly in 1907 due to complications after an  accident, he took over the family business and became a restauranteur.  Giovanni married Linda DiMella and had three sons: Raphael, Giandomenico, known as “Mimi”, and Ennio. After some time, Giovanni’s business grew to include the sale of groceries and wine.  Pietro Iannelli, fondly remembers the delicious “rustic pizzas” made by his grandmother,  and his grandfather’s passion for wine-making.  After his death, Giovanni’s son, Mimi, continued the family business. The original business and wine cellar have been preserved as a museum.

1. Giovanni Iannelli, who married (Cas)Sandra Sechi. They have three children: Raffaele, Benedetta, and Francesca.

2. Giacomo Iannelli, who married Caterina Cossu Their children are: Pietro and Linda. Pietro married Manuela Waldner and together, they had a daughter, Laura. 

3. Pietro Iannelli, who married Maria Luisa Boi. They are currently living in Calgiari, Sardinia.  They have two children,  Andrea and Alberto.

2. Albina Iannelli married Roland Basho, and has one child, Adele. They are currently living in Morcone.

1. Alma is currently married to Davide Iourio and has two children, Jacopo Angelini and Leonardo Iourio

2. Giovanni Iannelli married Manuela Campea. They have three children: Ennio, Edoardo, and Maria Grazia. This family is currently living in Rome.

Giovanni Iannelli nasce il 3 maggio 1884 nel paese di Morcone, in provincia di Benevento. Era il secondogenito e il primogenito di Raffaello e Cristina. Nel 1909 emigrò negli Stati Uniti. Si stabilì a Boston e lavorò come falegname e organizzò anche l'emigrazione di altri sei fratelli e sorelle, cosa che portò la famiglia Iannelli a diffondersi negli Stati Uniti. Centinaia di Iannelli e i loro discendenti in America hanno un debito di gratitudine a questo giovane lavoratore che ha diligentemente inviato denaro in Italia in modo che i suoi fratelli potessero realizzare una vita migliore negli Stati Uniti, dove i lavori erano più abbondanti. Nel Boston Directory del 1910 è elencato come ebanista e viveva con due dei suoi fratelli, Tomasso e Nicolas. Ritornò in Italia nel 1913, quando sua madre si ammalò gravemente. Poiché suo padre era già morto improvvisamente nel 1907 a causa di complicazioni dopo un incidente, ha rilevato l'azienda di famiglia ed è diventato un ristoratore. Giovanni sposò Linda DiMella ed ebbe tre figli: Raphael, Giandomenico, detto “Mimì”, ed Ennio. Dopo qualche tempo, l'attività di Giovanni crebbe fino a comprendere la vendita di generi alimentari e vino. Pietro Iannelli, ricorda con affetto le deliziose “pizze rustiche” preparate dalla nonna, e la passione del nonno per la vinificazione. Dopo la sua morte, il figlio di Giovanni, Mimì, continuò l'attività di famiglia. L'azienda originaria e la cantina sono state conservate come museo.
