Sam was my classmate, my bandmate and my friend. We were "bff" in grades 6 & 7 at School 18. We both played sax (he tenor, me alto) in the School 18 band. We biked together, mowed lawns together and we both loved music. Sam introduced me to Big Band-Benny Goodman, Glenn Miller, Count Basie. I introduced him to Rock & Roll-Elvis,Jerry Lee,Chuck Berry, Dion.We remained classmates, bandmates and friends throughout high school but, as we all did after graduation, went our separate ways. He was the number one person I hoped to re-connect with at the 50th but it was not to be. I was devastated when I learned of his passing but  great memories remain.

RIP Sam

I also remember Sam fondly.  Friendly , though not bff at the time, Sam was always kind and genuine whenever we interacted.  This is not always the rule during these teen-age times. It is disheartening to peruse the notice of classmates, and many times friends long disconnected, pass before their time.  Barrie

Sam was a very smart guy, with an original sense of humor and a wonderful smile.
