As you can imagine, it was a shock to learn a moment ago that George O'Connor had passed away recently, especially after I had sent him a birthday greeting a few days ago. He and I weren't close after I moved back to the Troy area (Wynantskill) in 1954, but he was my closest friend when we were in kindergarten and first grade at School 17 (1949-1951).
I extend my most sincere condolences to his family. RIP, George!
George and I were very great friends in High School and beyond. We used to correspond often when he was in the service and especially when he was stationed in Biloxi, Miss. We have written often and even more recently when our good friend, Larry Graber, passed away. We exchanged saddness emails over this loss but George did not tell me that he was also progressively sick. He was a man's man. I will miss George and Larry greatly. George sent me this picture recently.

Steve, thank you very much for posting your comments about George and the nice photo. Do you know if George died of cancer or was it something else?
I hope all is well with you and yours. Are you still practicing medicine?
