Say Ken, our 50th reunion committee is hard at work!  Liike you, our committee would like to keep events in Troy as much as possible!  You know me!  I favor a formal victorian ball for one of our events, but most on the committee want casual.

Sandy Naylor and I toured the city looking for historic venues that folks might enjoy.  Remember Frear's Department Store with the grand marble staircase and balconies?  Well, we got a look at what is left of that glorious store..... Bryce's Realty owns it and did a great job of preserving some of the stairays and balconies and made it into a lovely formal event area.  They even have a rooftop area where you can go out and sit at tables under the stars and see Troy from above!

MEMORIES!

Did you get my email about putting together an updated Dardanian???  It sounds like alot of work, but committee was wondering if you would be up to the challenge of soliciting information for it.  Sandy Naylor is willing to help compile it.

What do you think?

49 years ago we sang "we will remember the purple and gold." One year from today, June 8,2012 we will begin a three day, fun filled reunion celebrating 50 years since we were last together at our high school graduation. We hope you will join us as we reminisce,
reflect, and recall events from that foggy past when we were young and exuberant. We had the whole world ahead of us, remember? Come join us in Troy and visit our old neighborhoods (if they still exist),lament what has been lost, marvel at what is still intact, and have a good time reconnecting with the people and place of our roots.

We will be sending out further emails over the next few weeks,  but are hoping for your assistance in
finding email addresses of our classmates.   Please send name and email addess to this mailbox which will be used
as the central focal point for our messages about this event.   And if you at some point wish to be
removed from our email list,  let us know.

Be well.  Do good works.  And keep in touch.

Class of 1962 Reunion Committee

It is with deep sadness that I inform our classmates that Janet Vicary Powers passed away on Monday, July 27, 2011.  She lost the battle with lung and brain cancer after a mighty fight of 4 years.  Janet has 3 wonderful children who were her "rocks" during her illness.  I will surely miss this cherished friend of mine.

Apologies.... Janet's passing was on Monday, June 27th...

Hi!  Denise McCredes Chimbos asked me to create a logo for our 50th reunion--I have an idea.  Image--45rpm record with one of those converter thingies in the center--names of favorite songs from back in the day floating around it--sock hops, rock and roll.  Remember Shake Rattle and Roll; Rock Around the Clock; Let's Twist Again; Love Me Tender; Travelin' Man--what was your favorite?  Help me out!  I'm working on it---

Oh Lord, Denise!  I spelled your name wrong!! Sorry, sorry!

I remember Janet--she was a sweet faced girl with a blond "flip".  Quiet, maybe shy.  I wish I had known her better.  I'm sorry she had such a rough time.  I'll think of her and her friends today even though it's a few weeks past happening.

Forgot to leave my info--Karen Braden Foley--azgrammi@gmail.com or azgrammi@yahoo.com.  I'm having "issues" with yahoo so am switching to gmail--or trying anyway.    Much of this technical stuff baffles me!  phone 623-879-9454 or 634-451-6279.  I just noticed the edit button--guess I could have consolidated this--oh well.  One more edit--friend me on facebook if you like--I'd like.  I'm just figuring it out.

I would like to thank all those who put together what looks like a great reunion weekend. The advance notice is real helpful to those of us who have to make plans coming from out of state and to old guys like Jim Pollock.

Hope to see everyone in June

Fellow THS 1962 Classmates-

Cheryl Crandall Pollock convinced me I need to attend our 50th reunion June 8-10 even if it costs me over $1000 to do so.  So I am flying to the East Coast, renting a car and driving to Troy NY to visit with all of you again.  I am thrilled at the casual, fun events that the hard-working committee has arranged for us.  I look forward to joining you for each and every one of them.

I plan on staying at the Hilton Garden Inn so I can walk around downtown.  I hope some other out-of-towners join me there.  Or is there another "official" 50th reunion hotel?

HI, Linda. We are all so happy that you will be able to come and enjoy what we hope will be a great, fun filled weekend for all our classmates. The date is drawing near and it is getting very exciting, as many classmates are beginning to respond...I have truly enjoyed working with all the committee members on this, our 50th class reunion...What a milestone to celebrate...We will conitnue to work to reach out to as many classmates as possible leading up to the reunion and we expect to have a wonderful event that we can remember for years to come...As Pip (Maryanne Armao Hannum) so aptly put it: "We Are all Seniors again"..enjoy!!

Is there still time to create a financial scholarship for a 2012 graduate from the class of 1962?

If we each brought a check and the amount combined was dedicated to a college bound(2012) student in financial need, I can think of no better justification for this reunion.

Hi everyone,

I just wanted to say thank you to everyone who was involved in making the 50th reunion a spectacular success.  Since I have had to organize many events during the course of my career, I know the amount of work required.

Peggy and I enjoyed every event from Friday night right on through to Sundays boat ride.  Saturday was a long day for Peggy and she had to take a nap in the car for a while since she has CML, but she clearly had a great time.

We both enjoyed spending time and talking with the friends and acquaintances from the class of 62.  I dont know when the next reunion is planned, but truly look forward to being with all of you again.

Good Lord willing we will all be there!

Don & Peggy Clickner

Helga Witzleb (Cranston)

We hope to take the Baltic Sea Cruise that was scheduled for last May and had to be canceled due to Helga's chest pain  which she thought was only heartburn but turned out to be 2 blocked arteries that required stents. Needless to say, we were lucky to have made it to reunion (3 weeks later) and were very pleased the way it was organized and the fact we saw so many classmates. Life is something you can't  take for granted so my advice is to empty that bucket list now while you can still enjoy the experience.
