Comments:

Following a 13 year career as Executive Director for developing not-for profit, CAPTAIN Community Human Services, I became a realtor, and eventually launched my own business, Lady Cher Stitch Studio, llc, engaging youngsters in the sewing arts in my home studio and later inside a JoAnn Fabric and Craft Store in Albany.

March 31, 2010, I sold my business selling Husqvarna Viking and Singer sewing machines along with instructing customers in all areas of sewing and fashion design (draping on a dress form and pattern making) inside JoAnn's. It was a great ride for 3 1/2 years. The JoAnn Store moved my location inside their store to a much smaller area without any adjoining classroom space. Without the sewing classroom, the business lost its appeal for me so I sold and made a little money to launch my next endeavor. After designing historic reproduction patterns as well as others, with my partner, developed and pursued a patent for a "Custom Fitted Single Seam Stretchable Fabric Skirt" which was abandoned when my husband, Jim was scheduled for major back surgery. An accompanying manual, "Design, Fit and Sew at a Stretchy Skirt Social" is in it final draft, which we will be offering copyright free. I have returned to my love of sharing sewing with children and for the Summer of 2022 will be providing FREE summer sewing camps in libraries in both Crown Point, where we spend our summers and Ticonderoga, NY. I eagerly look forward to my next adventure.

Jim and I now spend summers at our cottage on Lake Champlain. Joe Chessman and his wife Brenda, come to the area from Alabama so Jim and Joe can fish (and catch) every day. Summers fly by and Jim counts down the days during winter until he can be at the lake again.

Beautiful pictures of the "Most in Shape" '62 graduate couple! Handsome grand also! Nice lake setting in your picture Helga. We have already been to the lake overnight. Jim, our son Clayton and his girlfriend caught their limit in huge lake trout (9 in all) which made incredible grilled trout! I don't wear a mask and won't get the shots. I have faith, not fear. Life is good! Happy trails to you....Cher

Jim remembers Maria giving him a hug at the 25th Reunion.  She was lovely then and in high school.  Sorry the years have separated us, but she will be remembered as my tall, beautiful, classy friend.

I had a productive 2014. I now have two sewing patterns published, an Edwardian style blouse and a craft apron for the entire family. Both come complete with a sewing manual so beginning sewists can successfully complete them. I feel as though I have published a book! Both are available through my website: www.ladycher.com. Please like me on my new business face book site: Lady Cher Stitch Studio.
