David was my first boyfriend, freshman year. We went to one of the proms together. His brother Pete was my friend, Diane Schermerhorn's, boyfriend about the same time. My mother taught us to dance in the "rumpus" room in our basement on BirchKill Lane in Troy. I remember doing the box step and wearing a wrist corsage. David was so much taller than I was--I think he played basketball. He stepped on my toes! Those early days of growing up together were so sweet and so brief. I remember that he was a nice boy. David died in a car crash soon after we graduated I think. A young promising life too early lost.
