School Story:
I remember a group of crazy kids that believed that all things were possible. They were the first class at Palo Verde to go the full four years and they were going to make their mark. They even had the balls to bury their own time capsule. I remember two-a-days my sophmore year that convinced me tennis with Coach Karly was in my future instead of being abused by this Van Horne guy, I remember walking out on the floor at my first pep rally and how it gave me chills(remember the Titan Stomp) and afterward in the locker room every one singing Dylan's "how does it feel" at the top of their lungs, I remember one day after school Patty Borge expressing her love and/or desire for me which I thought was really cool even though I had never meet her before, the next day she kindly told me it was a joke, I still felt pretty good about myself for 24 hours,I remember hanging with Gary Love and learning all the words to the Byrd's songs,I remember stuffing crape paper through chicken wire and how painful that can be, I remember a first date with Kay Musser which I thought went pretty well until we discovered that her purse had been stolen, I know she still thinks I have her purse, I remember laughing at Hogan Smelker, he was funny, I remember getting my letter jacket( I still have it today), I was so proud that I wore it the next day even though it was 96 degrees,I remember taking Kathy Kramer up to Sabino to the crack and the water slide, it was her first time and she was unaware that it was important to have someone waiting at the end of the slide to catch you before you go over the falls an onto the rocks below, needless to say in an effort to save her ass we both went over, I remember Mr Silverburg telling Charlie Shipley that he looked like Howdy Doody, he is the coolest guy ever, not Howdy, Mr Silverburg, sharp dresser, great wit and he even told us that there was more to "Playboy" magazine than the pictures which at our age was quite a revelation,I did take Adrienne Nibblett to the senior prom which helped me accoplish two things, I had a great evening at Skyline Country Club which they would have never allowed me into without her and it pissed off Rick Riddle, I remember my best buddies, Brock, Larry and Chuck we shared alot, Tucson Country Club, Mount Lemmon,Sabino Canyon, Spring Break in Rocky Point also comes to mind but barely, even with all of the excitement, the Mexican Army shooting over our heads and the Dodge power truck pushing over the jail we kept our pledge, that those still standing were responsible for dragging those that had passed out farther up on the beach as the tide began to roll in, I remember.......
