Looking back - I have to smile at what we naively believed were "gang wars" prior to start of school-- when the "bell rang" boys hurling insults (and a few fists) stopped and all marched into class (with the possible exception of "certain twins" who resisted class at all times anyway).
Such a comparatively simple and sweet time. We had sleepovers - staying up all nite - sleeping in our back yards - walking through the arroyos at midnite -- no danger. Dances, romances, crinolins, ditching to spend the day at Sabino Canyon. Ahh -- to live that time again.
