STERNS, John C., born January 26, 1947 in Oak Park, IL, died January 11, 2005. John was a 1965 graduate of Tucson High and attended the U of A before serving in the US Army, Vietnam war from 1969 - 1972. He began work at United Parcel Service in 1973 and retired as an Automotive Manager from there in 1988. From 1997 - 2004, John worked various positions with the US Post Office. He will always be remembered for his life-long love of old Chevy's.
John is survived by Dot, his wife of 35 years; mother, Norma; sister, Joan; brothers, Bill, Michael and Patrick and numerous other loved family members and friends. Special thanks to the Tucson VA Hospital and to Life Legacy Foundation. A memorial service with military honors will be held at ADAIR FUNERAL HOME, Dodge Chapel, on Friday, February 18, at 2:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in John's name to the Tucson Humane Society, 3450 N. Kelvin Blvd., Tucson, AZ, 85716.
John was my high school sweetheart, and much later he and his wife Dot became great friends with my husband and me. He had a terrific sense of humor, and could remember the longest jokes - I don't know how he did it, but they improved with every telling. He is deeply missed by all of us fortunate enough to have known him.
