Nancy Metcalf (Merritt)

Nancy Metcalf Merritt, 48, of Amarillo died Saturday, July 13, 2002.

 

 

Services will be at 10 a.m. today in Paramount Terrace Christian Church with the Rev. Scott Greer of the church, Charles Davenport of First Baptist Church of Tulia, Ken McMeans of Big Spring and Steve McMeans of Brownwood officiating. Burial will be at noon in Rose Hill Cemetery by Schooler Funeral Home, 4100 S. Georgia St.

Mrs. Merritt attended Wayland Baptist, Hardin-Simmons and Houston Baptist College. She married Ivan Merritt in 1975 at Tulia. They moved to Baton Rouge, La., in 1978. She was employed as a legal assistant for Taylor Porter for 17 years.

She moved to Amarillo in August 1999. She was employed as a graphic designer for Et Cetera in Wolflin Village. She was involved with Tascosa High School Football Booster Club, where she was lovingly known as "Aunt Nance."

She was a member of Beta Sigma Phi in Amarillo and Paramount Terrace Christian Church. She was a gifted pianist and played for several churches and civic organizations. She also accompanied many children's choirs.

Her courage was an inspiration to many and she will be dearly missed by her family and friends.

Survivors include a sister, Sherry Kelley of Amarillo; a brother, Mike Metcalf of Amarillo; her mother, Doris Metcalf of Tulia; her father, Darwyn Metcalf of Amarillo; and her precious puppies, "Daisy" and "Buster."

The family suggests memorials be to Nancy Metcalf Memorial Scholarship, THS Booster Club, in care of Wayne Moore, treasurer, 2811 Parker St., Amarillo, TX 79109.
