Yeah! Thank you. Thank you.

The only thing I remember from graduation was getting pulled out because I had "no half steppin'" written on my cap in white letters. My family was up in arms 'cause they threatened not to let me walk.

I remember that. Luckily I didnt get caught. Mine said I'm outta here!!! Boy I would have really been in so much trouble if they would have caught that.

Tj Kirste (Wolski)

They didn't let you guys write anything on your caps!? That is crazy!

Alex what was the "Half stepping" reference?

06/29/08 03:13 PM #116

Kristi Donaghue (Frank)

Yeh they made it very clear no writing on our hats and if we got caught we would not walk across the stage. How stupid was that.

OK That is totally lame!!! I love to read the caps at graduation. I know when I graduate in ec from college I have full intention of putting Delta Sigma Pi (but in greek letters) on my cap. I am a brother in the fraternity and am darn proud of it! And we are still come up with something cool for Megan when she graduates in May next year.

Yeh I know. I wouldnt care if my kids did that. It's no big deal. I cant believe we are old enough to have teenagers can you?

Tj Kirste (Wolski)

It is pretty dang scary! I still have a hard time believing that mine will be going to college next year! I am hoping to keep her around the area so that she can still live at home but if she chooses to go off to a college elsewhere I will have to deal with it! I know I always tell her to not do like I did - get married at barely 18 and have a kiddo at 19 - I want her to get her degree first then think about get married and have kids. But you know...they never do listen to us (man I totally understand what my mom was telling me way back when now!)

I know. Now I understand what my mom was talking about. Hopefully my kids wont do what I did as a teenager!!

Isn't it funny - we, as adults, now understand what our parents were saying. I hear myself saying things my mom did and think "OMG! when in the hell did I turn into my mom!" But I guess we survived and I only hope that my kids will as well. I have to say that my daughter has a really good head on her shoulders. She text me yesterday telling me that she called a friend to come get her because her other friends were doing some stuff that she knew I would not approve of. Of course this was all happening in AR where she is visiting friends. But she knew other people there that she could call on. I was so proud of her!

No Half Steppin is the title of a rap album by Eric B. and Rakim and it basically means that once you decide to do something, you do it 100% with all your heart.

I'm lurking...reading and smiling. Some of the things brought up I do remember (wild parties at Kristi's, wrecking the Kahn mobile on the way to Padre) and some I don't. Senior spring break was a trip, and I still have a daily reminder of that trip even now. (Yep, I married the idiot I met while drunk at the bar the 2nd night of the trip). LOL.

I remember being such a pain in the butt, judgemental, egotistical...well, you get the picture. I'm sure I offended so many people back then and it kills me to think about it now. But I think I had more good times than bad, so that's what I focus on.

My funnest moments...
-Being on yearbook staff, getting to take pictures of all the sports teams, including in the locker rooms doing their workouts.
-Cruising Claremore on Friday nights (Cynthia getting us run out of town!)
-Pep Club. :)

One more thing...Shawna and Selena's older sister works on the same floor as me here at ABG. First time I ran into her was a quite a blast into the past...

You know...I married a guy I meet while cruising Claremore! It is always so funny to tell that story to people and my kids love it! And still together after all this time! Claremore just isn't Claremore anymore - the last time we were there they didn't cruise it anymore. And the drive inn is totally gone! That is just sad!

Today is the 1st time I have actually really explored the site. I have to say that it is so shocking to see some of you with your kids. Most of you who have posted pictures look the same as I remember you. So to see you looking the same, with kids that are (in some cases) the age of when I met you, is just mind-boggling to me!
*And in case that didn't come across in print as I intended, that is a total compliment to all of you, that those of you with teenagers just don't look old enough! :)

Very funny Alex!!
Yeh, Claremore is not what it used to be. I remember cruzin Fontana Shopping Center. Anyway remember that?

Sue Young (Myers)

OOOOOOOHHHH NO, Fontana. I remember my dad bought me a 2 year old Mustang LX when I turned 16. That dang car just kept running into things, or things ran into it. :) The last straw was cruising Fontana either late junior year or early senior year. I was prob checking out some guy or something, and rear ended the person in front of me. Bent the hood on my car and my dad just lost it. Sold the car and I had to drive this POS pickup truck my senior year, that was stick shift on the floor and the clutch squeaked so loud you could hear it outside the vehicle with the windows up. I was NOT a good driver...

My first apartment with my hubby was right across the street from the Fontana. I remember cruising there as well. And the $1 movies there. Actually my husband got a ticket in there - some rent-a-cop followed him home and call the Tulsa Police and they gave him a ticket for some lame reason and it almost ruined his chance for getting in the AF. We fought it and finally got it all resolved with like a week to spare before he went off to basic.

I also remember cruising Sapulpa (sp) as well but it wasn't as big of a thing to do then. Not sure if it is now or not.

And what ever happened to Eastland Mall? I remember going there and hanging out.

07/02/08 04:50 PM #133

Katrina Kalb

Eastland Mall... I know. I tried to take the kids to see all my hangouts spots a couple of years ago. We walked into the mall and quickly walked out "for safety" we say. So sad.

I looked at my photo album with Padre pictures. I think of all the things we did that our parents didn't know,; who in their right mind APPROVED of us going on that trip?!

Does anyone remember a convertible parked on the side of the highway, spray painted Padre/graffiti. Have some fun pics next to that one.

07/02/08 04:59 PM #134

Sue Young (Myers)

I don't know WHAT you are talking about with Padre...I mean we took chaperones! (Yea, right, Angie's parents who stayed IN THE NEXT TOWN OVER!). But guaranteed that's probably the only reason my parents let ME go.

Coca Cola industries now has corporate offices in what used to be JC Penney's at Eastland. I believe the only other thing right now in the building is a bowling alley and maybe a church, though the church may be gone now. I have heard they are trying to turn it into a business complex, with Coke being the first.

Yeh it is no longer a mall. The Target across the street closed down too. I used to work there in high school.
Yeh, Sue I know what you mean. They stayed in Brownsville which was probably 30 mins away. I know that is the only way my parents let me go. I dont think I would ever let my kids do anything like that now. So dangerous to even cross the border anymore. Taylor went to Mexico for spring break but it was a missions trip. BIG DIFFERENCE!!

Community Action Project also has an Early Childhood Center at Eastland Mall. They have Head Start (3-5 years)and Early Head Start (0-3 years) programs there.

Terri, do you still write poetry? I remember you were such a great writer in 7th or 8th grade. I really thought you would be famous some day.
