Ah yes, one of those 25,000 dollar pyramid questions.

Clue giver: Fontana... Claremore... The Caravan... The Drive Inn... The Resevoir... various fields... various people's houses when their parents were away...

Alex: Places where I got drunk and made an ass of myself in High School

Game Show Host: Correct!

Oh and Eastland Mall. I think that place was about half of my existence from the day it opened (about a month after I moved to Tulsa, I think). I worked at the Finish Line, the arcade, and of course County Seat. I forget which friend worked at the movie theater that used to let us in free all the time. Because I worked there my entire HS years, I came to be friends with lots of others from many of the other stores, as well. I'm glad that I didn't see its decline, it would have made me sad.

You know Fontana has gone down hill too. It is all kinda of sad how things that were so big when we were younger are gone now.

Ok all, these are our memories and what is amazing is that we actually can REMEMBER them!!!!! HEHEHEHE I am so glad to see so many of you on here, this brings hope that many of us will be putting in effort for the reunion. I have a few connections in Tulsa for Hotel stay and MAYBE a convention/party room. Let me just add this, this particular hotel has a HAPPY HOUR every day from 5-7, it is free!!!! Also has a lovely buffet breakfast in the A.M. I need to know what dates we are holding this, approximate number of rooms needed, and how many people for the reunion. I think the capacity of the convention room is around 250.
On a holiday note, we, my family, have been attending the Keifer Fireworks for the last 4 years, IT IS AMAZING!!!!!! Great for kiddos and adults. If you come, bring your own "drinks" and food, they sell food, but it costs about as much as it does to fill your gas tank, hehehehe. If anyone is interested, Keifer is west of Bixby off 75. You can't miss it, you'll drive right into the town. Also, this is held on the 3rd of July. Get there early for good seating, we usually get there around 5:30'ish. Everyone have a great weekend and be careful.
P.S. If you come out and bring "beverages", make sure that they are concealed, their "officers" are a little strict.

Wendy - how funny you remember my poems! I kept writing up until my daughter was born (in 90) but after my dad died in Mar 91 I stopped. I have been working on one though for our Saturday night event.

I do remember working in the food court briefly at Eastland Mall. I think that it is sad that all the places we hung out at are run down now!

Alex - you are killing me!!! I laughed so hard this morning when I read your comment! Thank you! Considering how stressed I am today about a upcoming shot this morning for my arthitis in my knees (OMG I am getting old when I have arthitis in my knees!!!)

Angie, I think after our meeting on the 13th we will have more of an idea on how many people might be coming to our event. I am always game about using our connections and getting great deals and if they have a free happy hour then that would be GREAT!!!!! I won't be driving so I am totally game! But we can discuss this more at our reunion meeting on the 13th.

Keep coming back and posting memories! I am totally enjoying reading them and reliving my childhood!!

TJ,

I am going through a great book called, The Artist's Way. It is for anybody with a creative heart that has lost their outlet in the grown up world. Check it out on Amazon.

I know I love reading everyones memories. It jogs my memory and then I start to remember other things. Its so fun to think about being a teenager. I always tell my kids to truly enjoy your time as a kid right now because before you know it your responsible for bills, mortgage etc.

Tj Kirste (Wolski)

Thanks Katrina! I will look into that book.

I totally agree Kristi. I tell my kids to enjoy being a kid. I wish I could go back and re-do some stuff - like not be such a PITA to so many people. But I guess we learn from our mistakes in life and then make sure our kids don't make the same mistakes. I think we had it so much easier when we were kids. We could walk to the store and not worry about being killed. The world has truly become a smaller place and it scares the hell out of me to think my grandbabies will have to watch over their back 24/7!

Ok...I have to ask as well and this maybe upsetting to some (not sure) I know that Kenny Giddens died when we were in school but does anyone remember what year? I remember he was shot out at the reseviour in Tulsa but I can't remember all the details of it. I was going to add him to the In Memory page. I remember when he and his sister Lisa moved to town. It was in the 5th or 6th grade cause he went to Cooper Elem and he was in my class.

Kristi Donaghue (Frank)

TJ I think he died our junior year

I think thats true. As far as I recall, he was shot in the leg and didn't make it to the hospital. That was when we were voted the 8th most violent school in the nation. We also had the incident with Alan and Jason and the fudgesicle, and then our secretary, Mrs. Duncan, her son was killed in a hunting accident.

Not to depress myself any more, but any news on our teachers. Have any of them passed away? I know Mr. Ward is alive and kicking with his own website for Heathen Chemists:)

Sue Young (Myers)

I know the Alan incident was our sophomore year, so yes, I believe Kenny died our junior year. I have seen a picture of Kenny and Lisa at Lisa's graduation and she graduated May of 1988, so it had to be after that.

I can probably get a copy of that picture, if no one has a better one of him. It would probably be one of the last ones of him. I'll see what else I may have at home. Since I was on yearbook staff, I have so many pictures that I kept copies of. I just have to find that box!

This wasn't a violent incident, but do you remember when the football players all got drunk on the bus on the way to a game? I believe it was our junior year, but I can't remember for sure. I just remember them trying to play drunk and the coaches not even catching on until halfway through the game. They all got suspensions...it was such an uproar.

Sue,

You were the ultimate sports fan. Definitely our school spirit. I remember you at all the girls basketball games. I was the one keeping Shawna and Selena's seat warm on the bench!

Tj Kirste (Wolski)

I have Lisa's email address and have emailed her to see if there is anything that she would like us to add. I remember when I heard about it - it was the first time I realized we were not going to live forever - and I cried my eyes out. I had the biggest crush on him in the 6th grade!!! I think some where I have my Cooper Yearbook with his picture in it. I also think it was the year that Bobby Stem moved to town as well. But I will have to double check that.

Now I didn't hear anything about the football players being drunk and trying to play! That is just too funny!!! I only remember going to a few games - but now I enjoy going to any football game I can! I have been to a few of the AF football games (since I live right on the Academy). And this year OSU is coming to CU Boulder and I am going to try to get tickets to that game since I am a student in the CU System I get discounted tickets. I am not an OSU fan but I will still route for them since they are from Oklahoma and I can't stand the Buff's.

I remember because my brother was one of the ones that got suspended. I remember my dad had to talk to was it Mrs. Holden and he left her office and slammed her door and you could hear it in the round. He was furious at her.
I also remember the thing with Alan, I had to go dowtown and be questioned because I walked in right after he was shot. It was a nightmare.

Was the Alan and Jason thing - was that Jason Sullivent? I just found his picture on the OK Dept of correction. He got life w/no parol. (if this what I am thinking of)

07/03/08 06:08 PM #153

Kristi Donaghue (Frank)

Jason Sullivan. Yeh I actually had to call his cousin and tell her that her cousin had been shot. She was my boss at the time. How ironic was that. I went back to the house to see what was going on and the police was going around asking people if they knew who Kristi Donaghue was it scared the crap out of me. The had to take me downtown in the police car and question me. Probably my worst memory of high school.

07/03/08 06:15 PM #154

Tj Kirste (Wolski)

Was it on purpose? I can't remember. For some reason I was thinking it was on accident but maybe I wam thinking of something else.

07/03/08 07:26 PM #155

Kristi Donaghue (Frank)

Jason was drunk and having a party during school. Alan went to get a popcicle out of the freezer and Jason told him to put it up or his mom would know he had a party. Alan didnt so Jason got a gun and shot him right in the chest. So sad he ruined his life while taking another

Alan was recovering from cancer, too, right?

07/03/08 11:58 PM #157

Stephanie Teehee (Peterson)

Kenny died in the summer right after our junior year ended. And yes Alan was in remission I believe when he died.

07/04/08 04:52 PM #158

Kristi Donaghue (Frank)

Your right he was in remission from cancer. So sad. On a another note. Who remembers going to the Pladium? Or of course caravan. They dont have places like that anymore for teenagers to go dance at. Of course we always got wine coolers first then went and danced.

07/05/08 12:20 PM #159

Tj Kirste (Wolski)

I remember going to Caravan. You know there is no place like that anywhere anymore. I believe it is the reason we have such high crime amoung teenagers. I think it is a direct link - we had stuff to do that pretty much kept us out of big trouble. But now there is nothing for them to do for kids but get in big trouble. It is sad!

07/05/08 08:13 PM #160

Kristi Donaghue (Frank)

I know it is so sad that they dont have places like that to go anymore. Those were great times huh? Okay now I sound like my mother UGH!!

Ok, I'm enjoying the memory lane stuff for sure, but also wanted to drop in a quick note relating to the reunion. I currently work at Avis Budget Group and went this morning to talk to one of our meetings reps about discounts on car rentals for next year. Once we get the dates set for the reunion, we can post a link on our website that will directly link to an Avis and a Budget site, with a special discount rate for our reunion. She said she would set it up for me and get us the best rate possible. Woo hoo, I can contribute!!
