I came across this newspaper clipping of John Sherlock, Shelly Wolfe and me. It brought back a lot of good memories of when we were in Jr Achievement together. John was such a good guy!
John was a good friend from 7th grade until we were in our late 30s. He moved to the west coast of Florida to attend college, and stayed. I lived in Florida from 1988 until 2004. Although we lived in different parts of the state, John and I would get together every couple of years, and he was always that same upbeat guy that he was in junior high. I lost contact with John for a few years when I moved back to Oklahoma in 2004. When I went online to find his current contact information in early 2007, I found his obituary instead. I was crushed.
John's sister Mimi told me that John died in August 2006 as the result of a MRSA infection that he most likely got from the dentitst 3 weeks prior, which might have been further complicated by the fact John had diabetes. He was being treated with vancomycin at Doctor's Hospital in Sarasota when he went into full cardiac arrest and they could not save him. They suspect the MRSA infection had jumped the blood/brain barrier.
