Thomas Howard Clawson, Will Rogers Class of 1959, suffered a massive stroke on the evening of June 20, followed by several more in the hospital, and passed away at about 5:00 a.m. on Wednesday, June 21. We have Tom's last address as Cleveland, Oklahoma.

Thomas Howard Clawson, Jr., 76, of Cleveland, Oklahoma passed away June 21, 2017, in Tulsa, Oklahoma. He was surrounded by a few of the many who loved him. He was born in Ponca City, Oklahoma on October 30, 1940. Aside from a few early childhood years in Wichita Falls, Texas, Thom lived his entire life in Oklahoma. After graduating from Will Rogers High School in 1959, he joined the United States Navy. He served from May, 1960 to May, 1966 when he was honorably discharged. Thom worked many years at Amoco Productions as a Research Technologist. After retiring he developed a passion for and dedicated many hours to the Tulsa Master Gardeners. Thomas was preceded in death by his mother: Ruby Christine Petty Laney; father: Thomas Howard Clawson, Sr; sister: Gene Anne Harris. He is survived by his wife: Cynthia Head Clawson; daughter: Anna Clawson Solliday Floyd and husband Kenneth; grandchildren: Alan Floyd, James Floyd and Grace Floyd; brother: Dale Smith and wife Dorlene; brother: James Everette Clawson and wife Linda; as well as many nieces and nephews and friends who loved him dearly. A private family service to be held. For all family and friends, as a celebration of Thom's life, a potluck lunch will be held at the Westport Community Center, date and time pending final arrangements. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations in memory of Thom be sent to: Tulsa Master Gardeners Foundation at 4116 East 15th Street, Tulsa, Oklahoma 74112.
