Cause of death: injuries sustained in a car accident
GATESVILLE, TX--Funeral services for Coryell County Sheriff's Deputy Larry Mack Dowdy are scheduled for 10 a.m. today at the Coryell County Activity Complex here.
Dowdy, 55, was killed in the line of duty in a two-vehicle collision at State Highway 84 and Farm-to-Market 1996 in Coryell County, said Chief Deputy Doug West in a news release.
Dowdy was pronounced dead on the scene of the accident by Justice of the Peace Jimmy Wood, West said.
At the time of the accident, West said Dowdy was performing patrol duties in an effort to locate a suspect involved in the manufacturing of illegal drugs.
Dowdy was born Feb. 28, 1946, in Tyler and had lived in Coryell County since 1971.
He married the former Nancy Ann Conway July 18, 1974, and they have two children: Christopher Thomas Dowdy of Little River-Academy and Julie Niederhaus. - Killeen Daily Herald Our Texas, 2/06/02
