Darlene and I met in Jewel Kent's art class at Boulter, and we remained good friends and companions all the way through TJC, where we were both members of the drama club, Las Mascaras. She asked me to the Sadie Hawkins Day Dance one year at John Tyler. We came as cross-dressing hillbillies.

Darlene had some serious health issues later on. One surgery left her with a horrific scar that extended literally halfway around her body below her ribs. The last time I saw Darlene she appeared happy and well-adjusted. She had lost a lot of weight and she seemed to be really enjoying life. It's sad that she died so young.

Darlene was a very sweet gal, my grandad was in her care after his car accident at Mother Frances Hospital years ago. She was a great nurse (RN). That was the first time I had seen her since high school, she looked great.

As a newcomer to Tyler in 1962 she reached out to me and we ran around together some, I was one of the working girls at Neil Simpson's Drug Store.

Enjoyed trips to Lake Tyler with her family. Lots of good memories.
