Born July 31, 1946; died Feb. 19, 2002, Dallas, age 55
"Sandy married JTHS 1964 graduate Samuel ("Sammy") Dwight Gilley; they had at least one daughter, Jana. Jana and our oldest daughter, Amy, were close friends at Birdwell Elementary in Tyler. Sandy was their scout leader and their home was always open to the girls. There was always lots of laughter in their home." - Sandy Young Durham
I found this Senior picture of Sandy online in the L. D. Bell High School 1964 Yearbook.

Sandy was such a fun person to spend time with. We spent many fun days and nights laughing, before she moved to Dallas, we lost connection but did know she was in Dallas. Sandy and her sister Julie Futral were living and working in Dallas, when Sandy became ill. Her death was a shock. She always said she did not want to get old...too young, like so many others.Sandy was survived by a son. Sandy was divorced at the time of her death. A great gal. Larue Hamby

We band members had lots of fun times with Sandy. That smile of hers radiated personality. In the 8th Grade I ran against her for drum major and she trounced my butt. No wonder! I was such a beanpole-spazz, actually trying to twirl a baton. What was I thinking?? Sandy held the office with distinction and class.
