Judy Kay Watson, 78, daughter of Jessie Hue Moores and Norma Marie Palmer Moores, beloved wife of Robert Darwin Watson, mother of Robert Scott Watson, and grandmother of Preston and Michael Watson, went to be with the Lord on August 21, 2024. She was born in Tyler, Texas on November 19, 1945, at Mother Frances Hospital.
Judy grew up in Tyler, Texas, and graduated from John Tyler High School in 1964. After High School she attended East Texas State University (now Texas A&M Commerce), receiving a Bachelor of Science degree in Education in 1968.On August 9, 1969, Judy married the love of her life, Robert Darwin Watson. They had one son, Robert Scott Watson. Judy worked as a teacher in Winona, Texas and they raised their son together in Tyler. After retirement, she served as an Adjunct Professor at Tyler Junior College (TJC). She was an avid lover of animals. She was a competitive marksman, enjoyed antiques, scrapbooking, stamping, and other crafts. Judy spent countless hours volunteering with Hospice of East Texas, The McClendon House, Tyler Civic Theater, Oak Hill Cemetery Association, ComicCon, and Bascom Methodist Church. She enjoyed traveling and experiencing life to the fullest.. We give special thanks to the nurses and doctors who cared for her at Park Place Rehabilitation, Mother Frances Hospital, and Hospice of East Texas. Judy will be remembered as a loving educator. She was a people person, always giving and contributing her time and talents to others. Most of all, she loved her family, especially her grandsons. She was preceded in death by her parents, Jessie and Norma Moores. She is survived by her husband of 55 years, Robert Darwin Watson, son Robert Scott Watson and wife, Stacy, grandsons Preston and Michael Watson, sister Linda Brule and husband Fred, numerous nephews, cousins, and friends. Memorial services for Judy Kay Watson will be held on Saturday, August 24, 2024 at 3:00 pm at Bascom Methodist Church, with pastor Dan Seal officiating. A private burial will be held at a later date.
