         OBITUARY FOR WILLIAM R. PENTECOST

William R. Pentecost

William R. Pentecost, age 78, passed away in Lakewood, Washington, on November 16, 2024. He was born in Port Arthur, Texas and grew up in Texas and New Orleans, Louisiana, graduating from John Tyler High School in Tyler, Texas. He enlisted in the Navy on the anniversary of his brother’s (John R. “Jack” Pentecost, Jr.) death in Korea in 1953. He was a Navy Corpsman and then Chief before attending nursing school in Beaumont, Texas. He had a widely varied Naval career in medicine until his retirement as Lieutenant Commander in 1993. He then had several civilian jobs related to healthcare until 2011 in the Tacoma, Washington, area.

Bill loved baseball and football – particularly the Houston Astros and the Seattle Mariners – and avidly followed Texas football. Cancer took his life before he was ready for it to end. He is survived by his wife Twyla, his daughter Heather, grandchildren Talley and William “AJ,” and his sisters Rosalie and Ann. He was predeceased by his sister Norma (2012), in addition to his brother Jack (1953).
