Dave was a can-do guy who, as I recall, helped out in the technical aspects of the choir and its various music and drama productions. He was upbeat and enthusiastic and did whatever needed doing.
I dated Dave for a while in 9th grade. He was a true gentleman--rescued me from a party that had gotten out of hand, and walked me home. I'm sorry, too, that he isn't with us any longer.
Dave's mother was very instrumental in helping Herb Yenser out with the choir. I remember going to her apt. when she was ailing and the alumni choir was gathered at Christmas for a sing-along. We all showed up at her apt. and was so very appreciative. Dave was her pride and joy. I'm so sorry that he is no longer with us. I hate seeing the numbers go up. We've lost way too many good Golden Bears!
Getting back to Dave's mom, we really gave her a hard time, along with all the other subs, in 8th grade at Jones. I feel personally guilty about this, and I have vowed never to substitute teach, for fear that I would have a class like our 8th grade English class with Mrs. Rife, who was hardly ever there.
Dave did a lot of behind-the-scenes things for the choir. He was a lot of fun. I seem to remember that he had an older sister who was a choir accompanist? Susie Shultz? I'm sorry to learn that he is gone.
