Robert E. Sarka, Sr. Virginia Beach - Robert E. Sarka, Sr. "Bob" passed away peacefully on December 10, 2011, at home in the arms of his family. He was born on May 9, 1939 in Toledo, Ohio. Bob was a Vietnam Vet who proudly served for 22 years in the United States Navy. He enjoyed a 25 year career as a Senior Field Service Engineer with Fairbanks Morse, Engine Division. Bob was proud to be a member of VFW Post 4809. He sang in a choir in Vaughnsville, Ohio, he loved music. Left to cherish his memory are loving wife of 45 years, Sandra (Sandy); sons Robert and Andrew; Jessica Weller; grandson and light of his life Sean Sarka; step grandson Sebastian Weller; Elizabeth Melendez, whom he thought of as a daughter and her family; also his family in Wales. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Vetshouse, Inc. 3805 Aberdeen Ct., VA. Beach, 23453. Burial with full military Honors will be at Albert G. Horton Cemetery, Suffolk, Va., on December 22 at 11:00 a.m. When the orchestra ceases to play there is no more music, but the music stays in our heads and hearts. Like Bob.
