Eddie J. Edwards

1945-2011

Eddie J. Edwards, 66, of Cheyenne died Feb. 27 at his home.

Mr. Edwards was born Jan. 20, 1945, in Worland and had lived in Cheyenne for 28 years. He married Susan K. Leeson on Nov. 24, 1966, in Portsmouth, Va. Eddie served in the Navy and was a welder by trade until his retirement.

He is survived by his children, Dawn Hamilton (Shawn) and Christie Edwards of Cheyenne and S. Scott Edwards (Vera) of Sheboygan, Wis.; 11 grandchildren, Joshua, Justin and Jason Hamilton, Katelynn Edwards, Michael and Megan McCafferty and Lauren Lacombe, Lacee, Derrick, Aria and Logan Edwards, all of Cheyenne; and 12 great-grandchildren, MacKenzie, Kainen, Necole and Hayleigh Hamilton, Gabriel, Mereyah and Michael Budzinak, Tristen and Bau Alexander and Mayah McCafferty and Grayson Frakes of Cheyenne; sisters, Kittie McAlpin, Cathy Cunningham and Judy Abuckle of Seattle.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Susan Edwards in 2006; a son, Michael Edwards; a great-granddaughter,Christina Budzinak; and his parents, Elza Edwards and Doris Carstens.

Memorial services will be 2 p.m. today at the Cheyenne Brethren Church with The Rev. Dr. Emery Hurd officiating. Cremation has taken place at Cheyenne Memorial Gardens.

He was a first gunners mate when the ship was comissioned.  I remember him telling me how he helped with some metal work on the ship in Norfolk, VA. Also he was very ornery he had a lot of buddies he was trying to find before he passed.  One was named Max.  All I remember is the first name.
