Coach Kowaso also taught biology along with coaching and I credit his class with my developing a life-long curiosity with cells of the body, a curiosity and interest that I still apply daily in my lab here in San Diego.
In my coming of age memories, I recall that I first fell in love in the 7th grade and then
in 1957 I fell in love with a senior, and then in
1958 I fell in love with a junior.
In 1960 I was jilted by all three and learned to apply the valuable lessons that I learned listening to the guys at the back of Mr. Spears history class, especially when he was out of the room.

Still working. We keep a room right on San Diego Bay for any visitors and you are all welcome. This weekend we were sorry to see Boise State lose here at the Poinsietta Bowl but are still looking forward to see Oregon play in the Holiday Bowl. One of my hobbies is to try a daily run along the bay or beach. My wife and I do active listening exercises so I can see areas where I need to improve, although not much improvement has been made yet. We support the Sierra Club, Audobon Society, The Nature Conservancy, ACLU and Docs without Borders. Recent books include MY stroke of Insight, Musicophilia,The Color Purple-after seeing the new musical on broadway, The Black Hole War, Sun in a bottle and the parret who thought she was a dog.
