WCHS Class of 1987 with Class of 1986

 25+ Years and Counting!!

 

Twenty-five years represent maturity, wisdom, and growth. As we go through life celebrating milestones - births, anniversaries, and personal and professional accomplishments - we often reflect on the past to evaluate what has shaped us into the adults we are today; whether good or bad, successful or failed experiences.

We entered high school as teenagers and graduated young men and women; ready or not, eager to face our future, perhaps with uncertainties. For the most part we said our goodbyes to our fellow classmates and embarked on life outside of our parents’ homes, making adult decisions. We failed, we succeeded, but no matter what, we got back on our horses and rode this thing called LIFE.

During the years after graduation, we often reminisced about our high school experiences. Remember when our basketball team played the championship game at the Dean Dome at UNC-Chapel Hill? Remember how Mr. Jolly would bring you in his office and call your parents if you were caught kissing or your shorts were too high? Remember dreading taking Mr. Averette’s class because “the word” was his class was hard? Remember when Ms. Hargett wore black to reflect test day?  And whatever happened to so and so?  As a result of these inquiries, class reunions emerge.

As we reflect on the past 25 years, let’s embrace times gone by.  Let’s gather to reflect and share, to uplift and celebrate our Alma Mater; the place that educated and empowered us, the place “where everybody knows your name!”
