Lee Martin “Peanut” Woolard, 48, died Sunday, August 27, 2017. A graveside service was conducted on Friday, September 1st at 3 PM in Celestial Memorial Gardens by the Rev. Robert Worthington and Rev. Brent Manning. Lee was a native of Halifax Co. and a 1987 graduate of West Craven High School. Since he was 18 years old he was employed as a long and short distance truck driver. He was an avid hunter and a member of West Vanceboro Church of God. Lee was preceded in death by his father, John Taylor Woolard, and his fiancé, Nina Armstrong. Surviving are his mother, Joyce Bullock Woolard; a son, Rhett M. Woolard of Myrtle Beach, SC; 2 sisters, Minnette Stroud and husband, Mike, of Charlottesville, VA; and Johna Gurganus and husband, Ken, of Williamston; 2 brothers, John Woolard, Jr. and wife, Cindi, of Wake Forest, NC; and Bernie Jones and wife, Gwen, of Washington; a grandson, John Colton; and a number of nieces and nephews. The family received friends from 1 to 2:30 PM prior to the service at West Vanceboro Church of God.
