1947 - 2024


 

 

 

 

b. 1947 in Vancouver, British Columbia, daughter of   James and Marjorie Thomasson, beloved wife of  Barry Scott, passed away peacefully surrounded by    her family on February 13, 2024, at VGH after a brief battle with cancer.

A devoted wife to Barry, mother to Sam and Jonathan, and a loving nana to Justin, McKenzie, and Cody, she was cherished by all and will be deeply missed not only for her unwavering love, dedication and support, but for her selflessness and sacrifice for her family.

Drinda leaves behind a legacy of philanthropy and community service that extends her devotion beyond her family and expands to numerous causes and challenges that she believed were important for the betterment of the community that she called home. Drinda dedicated her time to numerous foundations and charities from a young age including Jobs Daughters, Daughters of the Nile, The Junior League and the Sovereign Order of St. John. She served on several boards such as UNICEF BC and Canada, the Vancouver Public Library, Science World, Arts Umbrella, BC Government House Foundation and the VGH/UBC Hospital foundation. Outside of her family and charitable endeavours, Drinda enjoyed a vibrant life filled with many hobbies such as golf, tennis, swimming, bridge, and book clubs. She shared 56 years of marriage with Barry Scott, celebrating their union on September 28th, 1967, in Vancouver.

Drinda will be remembered for her kindness, generosity, and unwavering dedication to her family, friends and for making the world a better place. She will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her. May she rest in peace.

Drinda's service will be held on May 18th at Christ Church Cathedral at 1:00pm with a celebration of life to follow at Shaughnessy Golf & Country Club in Vancouver. You will be so missed by so many Drinda.  Your enthusiasm at our "Grad Girls" lunches was always so contagious.  We are now missing our unofficial leader of all things fun.  We will continue with our lunches and reunions, and your spirit will always be present at them (but don't spook us, ok!). Give big hugs to Donna and Jane when you see them.  Don't you three be getting into too much mischief up there now. ......carol
