Frances Carolyn McGrath, known affectionately as Fran, passed away on July 18, 2023 in Vancouver British Columbia at the age of 77. She was born in Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan on February 13, 1946. Fran was a strong, determined and professional individual who strived to make positive influences and changes where she felt it was needed.

Fran pursued higher education at McGill University, where she obtained her medical degree in 1976. Following her studies, she began her career in the medical field. From 1977 to 1979 she served as a General Practitioner in Pierrefonds, Quebec. Fran transitioned to Family Practice in the Delta/Surrey area of British Columbia in 1979 once again dedicating herself to providing compassionate care to her patients. She remained on the Active Staff of Surrey Memorial Hospital serving the community until her retirement in 2010.

Beyond her professional accomplishments, Fran had a deep love for music and engaged in numerous musical activities. She also enjoyed sewing and craftwork, using her creativity to bring joy to others through her handmade creations.

A Memorial Service will be held to honour Fran’s life and details regarding the service will be announced at a later date.

In memory of Fran, contributions can be made to the organizations closest to her heart. This includes BCSPCA, Vokra, Paws for Hope or any other animal rescue group.

Fran will be dearly missed by her friends, former colleagues and all those whose lived she touched.
