Dear Gladstone Classmates, an update from Nancy Cahill (nee Lingren)
My second try as I hear the first post disappeared.
Since I will be unable to attend the reunion this coming Saturday, I want to greet you all with this email. Thanks for the many who have put time and energy into this site.
I think you will all agree that the key people who have worked to put this reunion together deserve a BIG THANKS. Your reward will be Friday and Saturday’s successful events, but also ongoing relationships.
Since we are all around 67 years old, and we are not yet on the deceased list, that is another reason to be thankful. Ten years from now, the deceased list will be longer and for some the reunion may be in Heaven. That is my prayer for all of you since whether we live another ten or thirty years, our reason for living will be over. So how do we get to Heaven from here?
Let’s go back to the ABC’s.
A. We have All made errors we wish we hadn’t. These are described in the Holy Book called the Bible as sins, and we have all committed them.
B. But we can Be forgiven By God and those we have wronged.
C. By Confessing our sins to our Creator, and believing in Jesus’ death and resurrection for our salvation, we Call on God with a prayer from our heart and He will hear.
These ABC’s are not just to make it into Heaven, instead of total separation from God (which is Hell), but also to discover hope, peace and even joy on the journey whether the road is rocky or smooth. I wouldn’t be here to tell this if it hadn’t been for my relationship with God and His many healings in my life both physically & emotionally.
I welcome ongoing friendships even when the reunion is over. In Kenya I say in Swahili, “Habari aku?” which is a “Hello” greeting but literally means, “What’s your news?” I want to take time to listen.

I am happy to hear of the reunion and to be able to reconnect with friends.
I did go to UBC and become an elementary school teacher, married GR, and discovered one year later I had juvenile diabetes. (I now wear an insulin pump which gives flexibility with diet and scheduling.) GR and I took training in Lausanne Switzerland, with a mission called YWAM (Youth with a Mission.) Upon return when I was 26, we had our first daughter. Having lost our second baby almost full term, we adopted an indigenous 10 day old baby boy, and later another first nations boy who was 2 years old. To complete our family we had Tammy. GR left me when Tammy was only 3, and I finished my B. Ed. degree to support my 4 children. I married P who was diagnosed with stomach cancer, and lived 10 months. Through all this heartache, I learned that the decision I had made earlier to trust Jesus to forgive my sins and be my best friend, held me sane through those challenges. I married Edwin in 1996. We founded and run an orphanage in Kenya (a registered Canadian Charity). I'd love to tell you about it. So please look at our website www.mercyandcaringhomes.org If you want to help us help vulnerable Kenyan children, please do so. We especially need that support now since the Canadian dollar which used to equal 90 Kenyan shillings, is worth only 65 Kenyan shillings. Our Kenyan High School that we started 2 years ago requires salaries for 9 teachers. Your dollars will help us change hungry but precious little hopeless children into healthy ones with a brighter future. I'm now "Mama Nancy" to 122 Kenyan kids. We will go again to Kenya Sept. to Nov. 2015, and hope to take a few folk along. The cost is $5,000 for an exciting adventure of 3 to 6 weeks. Please contact me for more info. if you are interested. encahill@yahoo.com
