Greetings Magee 1974 Grads!

We hope you are well and looking forward to our 50 Year Grad Reunion in September.  Please review this email carefully because there is lots of information and several “calls to action” needed to confirm your participation in reunion activities.

After reviewing the responses to our questionnaire (we had well over 100 - thank you!), it is clear that September 13th - 15th is the preferred weekend, and that there is much interest in both a Grad-only cocktail reception and a dinner to which grads can invite a partner or friend.  With that in mind, we have booked the following two venues:

FRIDAY SEPTEMBER 13TH GRAD-ONLY COCKTAIL RECEPTION

The Grad-only Reception will be held at Steamworks (https://steamworks.com/brew-pub) - a wonderful restaurant/bar on the edge of Gastown with a great view of the harbour and easy access to parking and transit.  The cost of this event will be $90.00 and will include the room rental, appetizers throughout the evening (7:00-12:30 pm), and credit for one drink.

We have enough grads attending (70 as of June 10) to confirm the reservation for this room, we have provided a deposit and would like to confirm final numbers as soon as possible. Please send your ticket money to confirm your attendance as soon as possible!

**Please include your full name (as it was in 1974) on your cheque, or in the message box for your e-transfer, so we can confirm your attendance.

SATURDAY, SEPTEMBER 14TH DINNER (PARTNERS/FRIENDS WELCOME) 

Some of the out-of-town grads suggested an event that includes a guest - and this has been embraced by all!  A sit-down dinner will be held at Glowbal on Georgia Street (please note the location as there are several Glowbal restaurants), from 6:00 to 9:00 pm (https://glowbalgroup.com/glowbal/). Partners/friends are most welcome.  

This well situated and elegant restaurant has a variety of semi-private spaces, depending on our numbers.  Again, the sooner people confirm their attendance to this event, the easier it will be to reserve an appropriately sized space. 

For this event, reservations and subsequent payment are made directly to the Restaurant!

Glowbal has agreed to take your reservations directly. There is a fixed menu at $85.00 pp (menu options are listed in the reservation link below, but Glowbal is happy to adapt to dietary restrictions with advance notice).  Grads will be responsible for their own dinner bills, including alcohol.  You simply need to use the link given here to make a reservation for yourself (and +1, if applicable) at:  http://tinyurl.com/Magee-74-Grad-Reunion-Menu CLICK ON THE TITLE AT THE TOP OF THE FIRST PAGE TO VIEW THE MENU.  

The restaurant would appreciate reservations as soon as possible to determine the room size for our group, so please reserve early!  Reservations can be cancelled up to 48 hours prior to the date.

OTHER ACTIVITIES 

Many of you indicated an interest in participating in the Hollyburn hike (KELLY THOMPSON/KATHY WELLBURN Coordinators) and/or the beach walk to Granville Island for lunch (ROBYN RENCHER/CATHERINE WORRALL Coordinators). Someone has also proposed a hike and follow-up beverage on Bowen Island (BOB PATRICK), which could take place on Sunday. Several people have expressed an interest in playing golf (either a full round or pitch and putt) but, with so many possible locations, we would love someone to step forward to coordinate.

We still have lots of time to confirm other activities, if there is enough interest and someone is willing to organize. Once we have leaders, we will send out another email with further details on activities’ locations and timing to confirm your participation. Please confirm your participation for Friday and/or Saturday night as soon as possible.  A 50th Grad Reunion only happens once - we look forward to seeing as many of you as possible in September!
