I think that there were more than 15 from our class. It was great to see so many people. I wanted to talk to more than I did but I was between a table and a wall and I just kept talking anyway. Thanks to the class of 1964. Someone said that there is a 50th at the VFW tomorrow and Mr Phillips is going to be there.

Hey Everyone:

I wish I could have been at Marion's last night, but I sure thought about all of you. I'm so glad we are having as much contact with each other. Like I've said so many times, we spent so much of our lives together, it's like family. I probably won't be able to come back to Ohio until about Labor Day next year, but I do plan on coming back as often as I can even though I don't have a permanent residence there anymore. I can't give up my HOME. It's been real hard thinking about that, but I know I have a lot of friends and I don't want to stay away.

I'm excited to see the pictures from last night.

I love you all.

Judy

Merry Christmas to all of the class of 1963. Having so many responses to this page has been an real suprise this past year. I have enjoyed reading everyone's profile and comments. Thankyou for making something fun this past year. Here's hoping that 2010 brings more additions to the website.

I wish each and everyone of you a very Merry Christmas. I hope your blessings are plentiful in the New Year.

Hey Everyone: I cannot even explain how wonderful the mini-mini reunions were in Houston on 1/1/2010 and on 1/10/2010. I appreciate Betty for arranging our meetings. For those of you who don't know, the ones who were there on Sunday (1/10)were Betty Barkley Rota, Martha Moreo Fischer and husband Brad, Ken Sumner and wife Pat, Larry Coleman, Karen Strobel Myers and John Erisman. It was such a good time. There was not a moment of silence. The waitress couldn't even get our orders because we were too busy talking. (Imagine that!) On Friday night (1/1), Karen and Ron were so gracious to invite Betty and me to their home where Larry was visiting. She fixed the most delicious cabbage roll dinner. We were actually suppose to be watching the Ohio State Rose Bowl game, but due to some person driving from Oklahoma and getting lost (to the tune of about 291 miles) we missed the game. Thank heavens OSU didn't need our support even though I had on my Ohio State shirt, Ohio State soxes, Ohio State Mickey Mouse pin, Ohio State flag, Ohio State license plate and window sticker, Ohio State Jacket and let's not forget, my Buckeye Beads, I think we had an even better time than watching the game (?? - you have no idea how much I love college football - and the Bucks will always be my favorite). I can't wait to come HOME in September and look forward to seeing as many of you as possible. My love to all of my classmates.
P.S. I have sent a lot of pictures home with Larry who will be putting them on the website soon. Hope you enjoy them. I've got even more to look through and will get them real soon.

Hey Ya'll:

The pictures turned out real good. Thanks Becky and Larry for getting this done so quickly. See, Classmates, you don't have to be in Vandalia or even Ohio to have a reunion. Find out who lives close to you, organize a gathering and have some fun. You don't have to stay all day or all night, but keep in touch.

Getting together here in Houston was fantastic!! Thanks to Larry and Becky for posting photos. If anyone is coming to Texas, especially Houston, or lives here and we don't know it, email me at bettyrota@gmail.com so we can organize a spontaneous "mini" reunion. We are all at the ready to "get toether" with you!! The Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo at the Reliant Stadium is March 2nd thru March 22nd. And, there are great barbque events, parades, and trail rides leading up to it. All Houstonians become "cowboys" for those few weeks! So, many of you are retired. Plan to come on down during that event and we will show you a great time! Yeehaw!!

Donna Hardie (Hedden)

It's sad that our old High School will be demolished next month to make way for a new, improved building. That's progress, I guess. My brother (Harlan Hardie, class of '59) attended the last open house at BHS last week and took dozens and dozens of pictures inside and out -- the lockers, the halls, the lunchroom, the bandroom, the woodworking lab, the auditorium, etc etc. He said anyone from my class is welcome to view or use the photos he took. We can access them at Harlan's website . Looking at the photos sure brings back lots of memories. Does anyone remember the "hunger strike" our class launched the first year we got to high school? Everyone brought their lunch that day and the cafeteria got the message that their food was no good. We were real Rebels.

Thanks Donna,

I checked it out and it is a great site.

Lots of Memories and good times at old VBHS.

Thanks to you and brother Harlan for sharing.

Thanks Donna,

Great pictures on a sad note about our school. Perhaps our Class of 63 could place some memories & etc in the cornerstone of the new school.

Did anyone find their hidden messages & etc?

'Change & memories"

Thanks again -Donna

Most sincerely - Dick Barnes - Denver, CO

What do you mean the school is going to be torn down? When did this happen? Is it really that old and out of shape? Is that indicative of what we have become, too? It breaks my heart. I could see the school from my house every minute of the day. I was and still am blessed to have been a part of it. I'm glad we've all gotten together to keep in touch and remember. I loved those days (now I didn't say going to class). Thanks for updating us. Harlen did a great job on the pictures. They will now be recorded history (or as long as we have computers).

They are not tearing down the High School. They are adding and remodeling it
