30 Year Reunion

A Big HELLO to all 1981 classmates.... 30 years.... WOW, can you believe it? 

WE HAVE A DATE!....The reunion is Saturday, October 15, 2011 from 5:00 - 12:00 at Louis Hall on Hwy 12. Ticket price to attend will be $15 a person and that includes your BarBQue meal that Joe Benoit at Louis Hall will be preparing there on site. 

We will need to know if you are attending and tshirt and koozie orders by August 31, 2011 so we can tell how much food we will need to prepare and tshirts can be ready by day of reunion.  There is limited space at Louis Hall, so let us know as soon as you can.

There are several of us planning the 30 year reunion and doing fundraisers to help cut cost of entry fee. Paula Goins Wilkins, Rossie Smith Hughes, Melissa LeBeouf Steininger and myself are the 4 that got it started and Cyndie Campbell, Stan Thomas, Kim Ellison, Wesley Ross, Mona Wallace Dawson, Terry LaFleur, Terry Oakes Paine, Lynlie Jones, Cindy Smith Copeland, to name a few have helped along the way...  We have a 3 day weekend around homecoming planned. Vidor has 2 very nice hotels, The LaQuinta, which has given us rates of $50 a night if there are at least 10 people that get rooms.  The Holiday Inn Express says they have to keep their rates at $89 a night.

So far we have raised over $2000 and we will be using it for the cost of Louis Hall we are renting for the nights events, the band Texas Thunder, which has our very own classmate, Ronnie Herrera, in the band, and several other things we have in store...Louis Hall will also be providing our meal for the night which will be Bar B Que plates...the cost to attend the reunion will only be $15 per person. 

So here's the 3 day excersion for the reunion and not that you have to come to all of it, but think of all the fun you will have if you can come for all 3 days...

Friday (homecoming day) - Homecoming Parade, at 2:00 pm, we will be set up in front of Orange Savings Bank with tents to block sunlight for everyone to come to watch the parade, you should be there by 1:30 to avoid traffic, and Main St. will close down, then that night, the Football game, at 7:30 pm, where there will be a section reserved for the Class of 1981 classmates and you know what comes at half time, the most incredible lights out performance ever, you should probably get there early because parking is limited... then after the game (or even after half time) we are going to meet at Lakewood Estates Community building behind New York Pizza and Pasta to visit, doors will open at 9:00 pm.

Saturday - during the day, at 2:00 pm everyone that wants to, will meet at the high school, Rene Milstead Wheat will take us on a tour to see how much it has changed over the years since we have been there. That night we will meet at Louis Hall from 5:00 - 12:00 pm for our big reunion..We will eat BarBQue from 5:00 - 7:00.

Sunday - Meet at Cinnamon Patch restaurant for Brunch from 10:00 am - 12:00 pm, before everyone has to leave that is from out of town.

On facebook there is a Vidor High School Class of 1981 page that you can watch for message from as well.  We will also have a Class of '81 tshirt that will be $15 (which a picture is posted on the facebook page, and koozies that will be $3. At the reunion, there will be a photographer taking candid and group pictures and a CD of pictures will be available to purchase for $25.

Right now we are working on finding classmates, so be sure and spread the word and have them come to www.classcreator.com and fill out their profile, even if they are not attending this years reunion, and eventually we would like to keep everyone updated with emails from this website.
