Gary Glen Cauthon

Gary G. Cauthon, 52 year-old Communication Tech at Southwestern Bell, died Sunday, May 4, 2003 at Saint Francis Hospital, Tulsa. 

He was born on March 16, 1951, at Vinita, the son of Robert C. and Willa Jean (Redman) Cauthon.  He  graduated from Vinita High School in 1969 and attended N.E.O. College before joining the Air Force in 1970.  He had basic training at San Antonio, Texas, then technical school in Biloxi, Mississippi.  He served in South Korea during the Vietnam War and completed his service at Warner Robins, Georgia. 

He married his high school sweetheart, Teresa D. Koesler, on May 13, 1972, at Vinita.  They moved to Bartlesville in 1974, and he began his employment with Southwestern Bell, where he worked for 29 years.  He was a member of the St. James Catholic Church in Bartlesville.

He loved to spend time with his family and also loved sports, water skiing, scuba diving and riding Harleys.  He was a devoted father and husband.

Mr. Cauthon is survived by, his wife, Teresa of the home; one son, Jeff Cauthon, of Bartlesville; one daughter; Sheila Self and husband Todd of Wagoner; his mother, Willa Jean Cauthon, of Vinita; two brothers, Larry Cauthon and wife Mary of Vinita; and Terry Cauthon and wife Joanie of Nixa, Missouri.  On his wife's side he is surived by his mother-in-law Evelyn Keosler of Vinita; brothers-in-laws Mike Koesler and wife Debbie of Vinita; Tom Keosler and wife Diane of Vinita; sisters-in-law Karen Harmon and husband Rick of Claremore; Janet Moentnish and husband Alvin of  Springfield, Missouri and 12 nieces and nephews.

Private family services will be held at a later date.  Cremation arrangements were under the direction of Stumpff Funeral Home, Bartlesville.

Gary was always a nice guy, quiet and kind. I wish I had known him better.

I got to know Gary in Elementary in which would would hook up with others who lived on the North side of town to play baseball at a vacant field by the school. Gary was quiet but always played hard.

He was a good guy who got lucky and married a really good person.
