School Story:
After graduating high school, I was chosen to represent NC as an All-Star Cheerleader at the Down Under Bowl in Sydney, Australia. During my time representing NC as an All-Star Cheerleader, I got the opportunity to visit Auckland, New Zealand and Gold Coast, Australia...oh, and our reward was in Waikiki Beach, Hawaii! The same summer (1999), I cheered for Champion Cheer Gym, under the great Cathy Buckey (former NC State Cheer Coach) for about 3 years, while attending North Carolina State University (GO STATE...I BLEED WOLFPACK RED).
During my time at NC State, I explored different majors before deciding to get a BS degree in Textiles and Apparel Management. While at NC State, I took courses at Meredith College, where I got the opportunity to study abroad in Europe. So, in 2003, I studied Fashion Design and Illustration at the Paris American Academy in Paris, France. During my studies in Europe, I also got the chance to study in Florence, Italy. While studying abroad in Europe, I got the chance to study under Head Designer for Gucci. Also, I got the opportunity to meet other designers and to attend several fashion shows, as well as intern at quite a few fashion shows. After studying in Europe, I finished my degree at North Carolina State University with a BS in Textiles and Apparel Management in 2005.
Also, I was allowed the opportunity, like so many others, to witness and change history....GO OBAMA!!!
Now, I have landed a great opportunity to work outside of my field of study....with grants! Currently, I am the Post-Award Grants Specialist for the Office of Research and Sponsored Programs at Shaw University.
I can honestly say , over the years, I have been blessed to travel the world and to work among the most talented individuals who are elite in his/her field of study...and I owe everything to GOD!!!
