First, I will say that I am absolutely a Grizzly at heart. I love Wadsworth, Ohio and I was so fortunate to have such a wonderful childhood in such a wonderful community. To me, Wadsworth, Ohio is a very special place.
I'm going to attempt to avoid writing a resume, yet will try to provide some information:
* Bachelor's from the University of Delaware (History with a Concentration in Journalism)
* Master's from Lynn University in Boca Raton, FL (Sports and Athletic Administration)
* Coached college basketball at Wilmington College (DE); assistant coach for three years and Head Coach for four years
* Held various positions at Lynn University in Boca Raton, FL, including the Athletic Director's position for four years
* Created the Collegiate Basketball Invitational (www.collegiatebasketballinvitational.com) with the intent of doing something great for the game of basketball and doing something for my original hometown of Wadsworth, OH (this has been an absolute thrill and a passion of mine); the dream became a reality in April of 2007
* Currently the Director of the NAIA Division I Men's Basketball National Championship (college basketball's original National Championship and the longest-running collegiate national championship of any sport in this country); www.naia.org and www.naiahoops.com
* I am now serving as the Chair of the newly-formed Kansas City Collegiate Basketball Association, and we are in the process of making this a 501c3 non-profit organization.
* Married Christine (Beach) in 2002. One of the best day's of my life.
* Our son, Sean Patrick McCarthy, is seven years old and is absolutely my favorite little boy in the whole world! I just love that boy!
This has been an absolute thrill to read through these bios and it's been a trip down memory lane. This helps me remember how very, very fortunate that we were to grow up in Wadsworth, Ohio.
Thank you for putting this web site together. I encourage our class to continue to use this site for years to come to reconnect and stay in contact.
I must say that the reunion was just awesome! Julie and her team just did a wonderful job and it was a thrill to see so many of our classmates attend. It was one of those nights that I just didn't want to end....just awesome! I look forward to our 25th!
Go Grizzlies!
From the time I was a little boy growing up in Wadsworth, I wanted to be a Grizzly and play on that basketball team and run through that tunnel on Friday nights at Art Wright Stadium. Wow, what a thrill!
Those times are still so vivid....
