20 Year Reunion
DETAILS |
When? Friday, October 2nd and Saturday, October 3rd 2009
Where? Frid night is Homecoming, so come to the game to see old friends and to show support for fellow alum and coach of the WFR cougar football team, Reggie Lucas. We had hoped to have a tour of the school, but unfortunately due to construction, all classes and football games are being held at the new Heritage School location for the 2009-2010 school year (directions to come) and not on the old WFR campus. The Football game starts at 7pm and usually is over around 10. Tickets are $6.
You can still come out to support Reggie and the team, and after the game we will have an informal gathering at the Carolina Alehouse www.carolinaalehouse.com/locations.html. There is no cover for attending, but if you are planning on coming to the Alehouse after the game, please be sure to sign up so that we know how much space we need to reserve and how much additional staff the restaurant/bar needs to have working that night. We will meet up after the game (or anytime after 9:30) on the patio/bar at the Alehouse.
Saturday's event will be held at Festival Park in downtown Wake Forest www.festivalpark.org/ . It will be a family-friendly for those who want to bring kids for the early part of the evening (please note when you register if you are bringing kids). Early on, we'll have kid-friendly activities like a bounce house, facepainting and balloons, etc. Festival Park is a big warehouse with a grassy field so we have tons of space whether it's rain or shine. With that in mind, we encourage you to bring camping chairs, blankets, balls, hoola hoops, frisbees...the things you might bring to a outdoor music festival or tailgate party.
Food will be provided by the Qshack and tickets for two drinks (wine and beer) will be included in the price of admission tickets for adults 21 and older. Additional tickets can be purchased for drinks at a yet to be determined price (we'll make it as cheap as we can!). You can also earn two drink tickets by volunteering to work a one-hour shift at the bar table or check-in table.
The Swingin' Johnsons , featuring fellow alum, David Gresham will hit the stage at 8pm, so you might want to have Grandma come pick up the kids so you can stay late and enjoy the show! Oh, and bring those ipods... we'll play your favorite 80s tunes from 5-8pm, so start making your playlists.
Tickets can be purchased online through this site until September 7th and are $35 per adult; $10 for kids 6-17 and free for kids under 6. After September 7th, tickets can be purchasd by check. You can mail your check made out to "WFR Class of 1989" to 6 Chestnut Drive, Swannanona, NC 28778" Please note with you check how many adults and children are attending. Tickets can be purchased at the door the night of the event, but in order to guarantee enough food and beverage for everyone, you still need to register online or let us know you are attending via email so we know how many people are attending.

So that's the scoop so far. More specifics will be coming in the next few weeks, but please go ahead and register with all of your information so we can be sure to update you along the way. If you would like to help with planning; have ideas, feedback or concerns please contact Valerie Holbert. Please pass this website on to any other alumni you keep in touch with. There is no master list of addresses and we are doing the best we can to get the word out to everyone. We need your help to make the reunion a success! All suggestions, help and ideas are welcome.
Thanks and hope to see you in October!
