Just wanted to say hello to everyone, and great job with the site!!  I would really love to attend the reunion and see everyone, but unfortunately I will not be able to.  I am currently serving in Iraq and not scheduled to re-deploy back to the good ol' USA until October...just missing it.  I hope it will be a great turn out and please let everyone know I will be there in spirit if nothing else.  Hopefully this website will allow me to regain contact with you and perhaps the next time I'm NC I will at least be able to maybe get up with a few of my old classmates.  I'll be thinking about you guys.  Take care and please fill free to drop me a line sometime.  Would be great to hear from you.  pcww06@yahoo.com.

One of God's greatest gifts to mankind is our ability to love. Houston and Laurie, I want to thank you for the love you've showed all of us by the work you put in, trying to allow the 1976 Class of Wake Forest Roseville Senior High School, to experience an evening of old friends, fellowship, and the love of our fellow man.

I just received the news that the reunion has been cancelled due to the threats and intolerances of someone, understandable too ashamed of their bigotry to claim their thoughts publicly, that has forgotten one of God's few request of us, you know the one about "thou shall not judge." As much as I love you guys and what you tried to do for us, I pity this person who's world can be put in such turmoil by the way others choose to live their lives.

If I haven't learned anything else over the past 53 years, I've learned it is all I can do to live my onw live and try to find my own happiness. I'm glad to have learned through the website that you, Houston and Laurie, have found some level of comfort and happiness in your lives. The point of this post is to ask you, and any other classmates who read this, to join me in praying for this poor, unhappy, lost soul that is so offended by the way other choose to live their lives. Pray that God could replace some of the hate in their heart with love, and that someday they too may find some peace, comfort, confidence and happiness through living their own life.

Not afraid to claim my thoughts, your classmate,

Peter (Joe) Jones

After reading Houston's letter sent out I am shocked at the unkindness of whoever made this phone call to Houston. You should be ashamed of yourself, If you are so godly you should remember the scriptures in the bible that say not to judge. You are a very sick human being.  What we should do is hire an off duty Police Officer for the party, I will certainly pay for this. Houston you need to come. You and Laurie have created this party.

For all of the rest of you that do not like the way Houston lives stay the hell home.

I am truly sorry there are animals out there that exist like this.

By the way I am an ex police officer. Please come to the party so we can throw your kisser out on the ground. I will take great pleasure in doing this myself. I have not been in a fight in some time  but I assure you I have not forgotten how to. I just survived an earthquake and a terriost attack in India the past week and life is to short for the likes of the person that placed this call.

Should Houston or someone else find out who placed this call this is a sure case that could wind up in court and possible charged with a felony. I wonder how this church person will explain this to the community when they are sitting in jail.

Gloria,

Your thought was my thought when I first read Houston's letter. But then I tried to put myself in his and Laurie's position. They have put untold hours of work, not to mention they were willing to foot the bill (if you remember our $12 was going to the gratuity) and what do they get in return - spit in the face.

I hope the lack of public support for them is the fact that most of us old codgers don't know how to use this posting stuff (it took me a few minutes to figure it out, but it was important to me to let them know how much I appreciated what they were trying to do, and how much I disagreed with the sad soul spitting on that).

I consider us lucky to have been members of a small and relatively close graduating class (at least as I remember it). I have looked over the list of people that registered for this site and I remember most. Call me naive, I don't remember any haters in our class. I look up and down the list and wonder who I misjudged so badly.

Gloria, I understand your anger as that was my first reaction too. But as I said in my previous post, my ultimate reaction is pity. Can you imagine living with the paranoia that can see "a gay agenda" in what Houston and Laurie were trying to do? WOW! Think of all the "EVIL" they must see in this beautiful world and how miseable it must make their life!

Thankful I can see the beauty,

Peter (Joe) Jones

Thanks Gloria and Peter for your comments. Thanks to Laurie and Houston for this beautiful website that has allowed many of us to connect with old friends. Thanks Houston and Laurie for all the work and money you put into the reunion. Your only agenda was to get together and bring together your old classmates for old times. The only person with an untoward agenda is the person, who knows they did wrong and is ashamed of themselves, who threatened Houston. I saw a t shirt today with a picture of Christ with his back turned...his back was covered with stripes from the whip. The caption read " want to know what true love is? Read between the lines...". Love is the foundation of the Christian faith not the paplum that caller was spouting.Comments like the caller made to Houston make Christians look bad, make our hometown look bad and make the south look bad. Thanks again Houston and Laurie

To EVERYONE, Laurie and I are completely honored and humbled by your support and comments.  I would love to carry on with the reunion, but, in reality, the damage has been done.  It is been mentioned that we may be "letting this or these people win by canceling the reunion".  It is not a matter of "winning" at all, at this point, the reunion would have a dark cloud over it for us, but, as I stated, someone else can take it over.  Let's hope this situation just diminishes over time, and who knows what the future will bring.  I will keep everyone posted.  Again, your kind words of encouragement mean more than you can ever imagine.  Wishing you all the very best.  Houston Vaughan Jr.

I've used the expression " kick in the gut" because that's what I felt when I read about the cancelation. I've visited Solas on Glenwood Ave. and there's a rooftop lounge with lots of space to mingle as well as a 2nd story lounge and the dining room is at street level.( google it for directions ) There's several of us meeting there at 7:00 Sat. just to gather upstairs and have dinner later or whatever. Bring it on.

You know classmates, .............time tells all and time will expose this pathetic ploy and all those involved.

You reap exactly what you sow in this life.

And, I had my outfit all picked out, lost about 6 pounds and "de Brickhouse" was getting ready to turn some things out. I guess ya'll just won't ready.

But I'll say this "We are strong and We are mighty". Wherever there's a will there's a way! Maybe we won't get together this month but..... we will get together, and just think how sweet it will be.

"Wake Forest Rolesville Sr Hi School, lift up your voice in song. Our hearts ring true, the meaning of our school UNITED ALL. Our hearts are filled with love and admiration for our Red, White and Blu..oo..ue"!

Now here's a question, we're older and we're wiser now, how come we can't figure our way thru this one....mmm? We're older, we're wiser.

We've got this wonderful website as a point of contact, we've got a reasonable portion of health and strength, some have money and some have dreams....there is nothing that we can't do, if we really want to do it. Sleep on that one.

I don't know if or where we're supposed to let you know we're coming, but just for the record I'll be there.  It's been great reuniting on this website; I look forward to seeing everybody in person.  Unfortunately I can't get into the dress I bought just a few months back.  It seems to have shrunk in my closet.  Oh well.  Happy new year and hope to see you all on the 5th of May.

I look forward to seeing everybody Saturday night at the Clarion!!

I have a wedding to go to (just like last fall) at 5 in Rocky Mount, so I'll be a few minutes late. I've gotta feeling I will ditch the coat and tie very quickly.

I want to thank EVERYBODY who came last night's wonderful reunion as well as those who were with us in spirit (you were missed)!  I had the best time recollecting our growing up together as well as catching up and meeting your spouses.  What a fine group of grownups we've managed to become!  I am so grateful to have been--and to be-- a part of the WFRSHS class of 1976!  And I am grateful most of all to Houston and to Laurie for making what was a really moving and meaningful  event possible for us all.  Real friendship is clearly eternal.  And a whole lot of fun!

I hope we can do this again before too many more years slip by.  I would be happy to assist anybody interested in forming a committee to organize the next one--maybe for our 40th?

Best to all,

Susan

Hello Cougars of "76". Wow now thats deep. Being able to express that on this forum. I know it been 2 yrs since the reunion and was wondering anybody has plans for annual meeting before the next one? Did we form a committee to keep everyone updated on the group? Are we getting together for our 40 year reunion? Anyway i will assist anybody with whatever i can provide. I speak from the heart when i stated that what Junior and Laura has given us less not forget.
