In Memory

Madena Woods

When I began this site and started planning the reunion, I had many things on my mind.  Naturally, I wanted to see many people from the past.  Two people kept coming to mind for me,  Joe Jones and Madena Woods.  I was notified today that Madena has passed away.  I will admit that I sat at my computer and shed a tear.  What a kind, giving, caring young man Madena was to everyone.  He knew my situation, living on my own at 15, and many times would grab me and share a lunch, invite me to his house, and create a great deal of laughter together.  I am so sorry to hear of his passing and he will be missed at this reunion by many, I am sure, but by me, he holds a special place in my memory.  RIP MADENA, remember you were loved.  These photos provided by his best friend, and cousin, Joe Jones. The photo to the right is of Madena and lovely sister, Cynthia.

Madena Woods was not only my cousin, but a best friend. He departed this life on December 25, 2009 at about 1:00 am due to a heart attack. He did not suffer and went in his sleep. I received the call at about 5:00 am. That will be a Christmas I will never forget.

Madena lived in northern Virginia.   He retired from the US Army in 1997 after 20 years of service in the transportation field. He then settled in the DC, Md, and Va. areas and worked as a chauffer for a top executive who contracted with the Pentagon. Till death he remained the kind hearted, gentle and caring person we all remembered him to be in high school. I will dearly miss him and may he rest in peace. I will be adding pictures of him as I get them together.
