I must have been living in a vacuum. What happened to Sandy Lemacks? Danny Polk? Homer Rizer?

I just found this website and think it is great way to stay connected after all these years...seeing that so many have passed away, makes me appreciative of this day and of my health...makes you realize that we had better have fun and enjoy life while we are still healthy enough to do so!! I still see and talk with Delane Bessenger Bivens when I can. Her health is very poor. Her dad and aunt have recently passed away.
Hey, I may retire in Walterboro one day on some land I own...the ones that still live there, tell me how you like it and are you glad that you stayed? Seems like it would be a more relaxed, less congested, small town atmosphere to live in..??
and what happened to Bruce Ackerman? I just happen to run into him about a year ago at New Year Eve's Party...

Hi Deborah, I agree with you about the web page-it's great to hear from our friends. Bruce had been sick for quite a while from what I understand. I saw him several times this past year and he was always so nice. He was in the hospital around the first of Dec. He was on our prayer list at church, so I went to see him. We had a nice visit and he told me he was waiting on his ride to go home..he was already dressed. He had been spending time between his house at the river and his home in Cottageville. His mom died about 2 weeks before he did.

Thanks for the response, Margaret...it is so sad about Bruce...and the others that have died way too soon..good to hear from you!
Happy New Year!

Hi,gang! I was in Walterboro for Christmas but it was so hectic with the family that I did not get to see anyone else.

We finally had all the family there but my new daughter-in-law who had to drive to Illinois with her Mom to check on her grandmother's health.

I am considering a move back South (in CT now), but would like to be in some place with a cooler climate than Low Country SC.

My son married a wonderful young woman from Atlanta last March - the day the tornadoes hit. She is just what he needs.

I am happily married to my second husband Dennis who keeps me laughing all the time. Even when things are tough he always sees the glass half full.

My mother is beginning to fail in health a bit. We brought her back with us to CT and took her to NY City to see the lights and a play. Unfortunately, she was having back problems and has severe difficulty walking. So, we were not able to do much.

My youngest sister, Sandra just retired from the Air Force and is living in Savannah. It is good to have her back in the states.

Cindy Hudson Lucas is still in Walterboro with her husband Charles.

We love Connecticut but the cost of living is unbelievable and I would really like to be closer to home now.

I am executive director for several non-profit associations and am looking to work with one so that I can concentrate all my efforts to the wellbeing of one non-profit. I am been spreading myself too thin lately and need a change.

When excactly is the reunion? I can't find a date on the site, but I could be missing it.

I'm on Facebook now, but am a novice so there isn't much there yet.

Keep in touch.

Karen

I found out today that Virginia vonLehe passed away recently at her home in Walterboro..ironic that I included her in my profile on this site as one of the teachers that made a lasting impression on me...she was indeed a "class act".

Hey all. Does anyone know about Mar Elia Simmons? I saw her name had been added to the memory list. I haven't talked to her in about 5 or 6 yrs but we always kept in touch up until then. My heart sags a little more every time someone's name is added.

Hi guys! I don't have email addresses for most of the Class of '69 members, but, if you have an email address or know where our fellow classmates are living, send them the web link to this WHS 1969 website. This is such a good thing that Danny's done (Thanks, Danny!). Let's try to get a large crowd to attend the reunion in May. I have a hard time believing that the Class of '69 isn't online. We all know that life is short (and getting shorter)...let's kick up our heels while we can still lift our legs!

Cindy, thank goodness for name tags!! The heck with pictures, I was just trying to remember names. I thought I was going crazy until I saw where some were from JCC. At first it was just names w/o JCC by them because I had to ask Tommy who Carroll Hayes was. I don't think I had the pleasure of meeting him! You can ask my husband, I don't do pictures. I told him after being together for 27 yrs if he doesn't remember what I looked like then pictures weren't going to matter. It scares me when I look at them! It hurts DEEP when I look at Sissy and David and they look like they are still in high school, lol. It just doesn't seem like we have been out of school for 40 years. Time flies by soooo fast. I just pray that I will be alive and kicking on May 23rd. It saddens me to see so many of our classmates have passed away. Life is short and sweet.

After reading these messages, I now know we are getting up a little in years. Everytime I look in the mirror I am SURE I don't look anything like I looked in 1969! (Mary Gail, you need an eye exam) I am always glad to see every birthday come. It is so good to hear from everyone I hope we have a great turn out. I'm sure I'll need name tags with pictures!

Just a sick thought from me and this crazy brain I have developed over the past insane years. No name tags and no pixs. Just guess who I am!!!! I know it will never fly, just a little humor!!! It is great to read all of the responses. Can't wait to see everyone!

01/25/09 11:03 AM #17

Margaret Moseley (Dandridge)

I agree with Ann..I am just and sick and insane as she is! Might be fun to try and figure out who the heck everybody is.

In requards to name tags and pictures remember,

"And it must follow, as the night the day, thou canst not then be false to any man". (Hamlet Quote Act I, Scene III)."....William Shakespear.

I would say be proud of who you are today..and how you look....remember you earned it by still being around.

Look at Carolyn Ann Wilsons current photo; the girl is beautiful. Age is a good thing.

Just my opinion,

Dan

Well guys & girls--you won't need my nametag or picture BECAUSE my legs are still as SKINNY as ever!!! The weight that was suppose to be in them went in all the wrong places!

01/27/09 04:07 PM #20

Mary Gail Kiser (Welch)

Cindy, between the skinny legs, blonde hair and dimples, we all will have you pegged!!!

01/29/09 10:04 AM #21

Pam Hascall (Berry)

Cindy Jones, at least your legs stayed skinny. How did you keep gravity from taking over? You need to patent that solution to an older person's sagging problems. Mary Gail, I am sure you are as beautiful as ever with your sweet caring smile. Remember those days we checked out of school for Coach Strock to get ham and make sandwiches? Believe me, pregame meals have come a long way since those ham sandwiches. Hope to see you all soon.

I remember Marshall Truluck signing my bus in for me & a bunch of us going to the H & D & borrowing Padgett's green chevelle & going to Edisto Beach for the school day. Wow I miss those days!!
