Karen Noffsinger Hanes

After 33 years as a medical transcriptionist for St. Vincent Health in Anderson was let go due to cutbacks and being part time at the time in 2013. Now volunteer with Habitat for Humanity twice a week building new homes and rehabbing others. Give me a saw, a hammer, paint brush and anything related to remodeling and I am a happy camper!! Spent 2-1/2 weeks in Virginia at my brother's house (Bruce Noffsinger) working on projects for him. Renovated the house we live in that was ready to be condemned 35 years ago... took it down to the studs and redid everything. I do not do electrical or plumbing though. Have fun keeping up with 4 grandchildren's activities.

Fifteen months ago spouse and I went to the Vegan lifestyle after his open heart surgery with four bypasses. Feeling great, preventing and reversing any heart disease by keeping the body free of all the animal protein that we tend to eat on this Western diet. We do not miss the meat at all, but do miss the dairy, like cheese!! Cheeseless pizza isn't too bad any more! Update: Still following this lifestyle, though not quite as perfect as would like to be.
