I remember when I took sewing. I believe the teacher (I don't remember her name) was preturb at me because I was ahead of the class when making my "culottes". She wanted me to follow her directions and work on that particular step before going to the next step. She didn't know I had made my first dress when I was in the second grade.

I also remember the sit-in.

After graduating I took a year off, than went to collage. I graduated from Indiana Business College in 1976 with a degree in Fashion Merchandising. The fall of 1976 I started working at the Huntington Kmart. I put in 31 years, working my up to being an Assitant Manager for the last 9 years. I was let go in 2007 (I call it semi retired). I also have had 25 years in the craft business doing craft shows thru out the area. With my craft background I extended my crafts and started a new business ~ Heirloom Teddies. I make teddy bear (21" tall & jointed)using clothes from individuals who have passed away. This way the family has something they can remember a family member or friend wearing. I also use clothes a child has out grown & mom does not want to throw out or give away the garment(s).
