LOL!!! No shotgun, just trying to keep it small. His mom found out our plans and had the whole family coming from all over the place. Some were angry they were not notified earlier and started a big mess. To ensure it will be small, only 8 guests, we changed the date to Thursday at 2pm (everyone will be working). Everything is all set to go. You would not believe the plans his mom made in less than 24 hours. Unbelievable! Everyone keep your fingers crossed for no rain that day. I have been dreaming of getting married by our pond for years. It's the most beautiful spot on the farm. It wont be as fancy as first planned, but the leaves will make it perfect.
The weather was great but it was a bit to cold for an outside wedding. All went great! Thanks for the good wishes. I love looking at the pics from school, they are awesome! Lost my yearbooks and High School memorabelia in one of my moves.
I have been crazy at work putting actual inventory numbers into my system. My boss always thought it was a waist of time. Haven't seen him in over a month! The few times I have seen him have almost ended in me beating the life out of him for taking things from my store to his new store without giving me figures to subtract from my inventory. We relate to each other more as siblings than boss and employee. I've spent the last 3 months getting real numbers and will hurt him if he screws it up! Anyway I am almost there (about 90%), after I get it set my time will be a bit more mine and a lot less his. As for the holidays, we are getting ready to get the turkeys done for Thanksgiving which is awesome because as they get older they become much more aggressive and quite frankly are making me very nervous in the mornings when I have to feed them. Anyone out there ever been chased by wild toms? I have!!! Not a great experience!!!! These guys have started booming at me when I go in there pen to feed. Sunday can't come fast enough. I hate these things. Cute as babies not so at 6 months!
Oh how things change! I moved to New Hampshire when my daughter was in fourth grade. She was a horse FREAK! I promised her a horse IF she kept her grades up and was on the honor roll for three consecutive semesters. CRAP, wouldn’t you know, she did it!
I purchased an old cow farm and spent a good 6 months preparing overgrown pasture for horses. I went to a “horse auction” and brought home her first horse; a little 14.1 Quarter Horse mare named Ginger. I figured the horse “thing” would quickly get old as getting up at 5 AM to throw hay and grain isn’t a fun thing. Then factor in breaking the ice up at 5AM during those long and cold winter months. I figure it was a shoe in. WRONG!
Fast forward years later. The horse “thing” stuck long and hard. My daughter is a very accomplished equestrian and will be going to med/vet school next year and I’m nothing more than an ex-show Mom who has EXCELLENT horse grooming skills!
Well Elaine, at 43 I am still going out at first light year round doing the whole horse thing. I still love it but I have to tell you the whole ice thing sucks!!!! We had the same mis-guided notions towards my step daughter. At 18 she is kind of moving away from her mini but bought a Percheron cross right out of high school. We thought she would go to college for anything horse, but she met a boy and is going to community college for her math and english classes, unsure what she wants to do. The only for sure knowledge she has is she can't possibly go away to school and leave her boyfriend.
We witnessed the same thing here. Good friends of ours younger daughter went to an equestrian college in Ohio....until she met her boyfriend. The the barn hours interfered with "boy-time". Her major has sinced changed:):)
I wanted to wish you all a Happy Thanksgiving. Hope all your family and friend time together tomorrow is full of joy and memories. My date I am currently looking forward to is January 2. After doing retail for 10+ years I look forward to the hollidays ending.
I am trying to get feel for the retail stats. Anyone working in retail notice a huge boost in sale in comparison to the last few months? I expected a down year in sales this year for Thanksgiving. Boy was I wrong. We were up 3 grand from last year. From the time our store opened at 9 a.m. until 8:50 p.m., we never got a break. Normally by 7 p.m. we slow down to where you only need one person on to finish the night. I let all of my help but my niece go by 7:30. Amber and I were out straight until 9 and had to spend another hour restocking the cooler before we left. There was a lot of partying going on in and around East Windsor that night. Friday we were up a thousand as well. From what I have heard that trend was typical for liquor stores in our area. None of us saw it coming.
just trying to breath through the holidays--work is crazy==surprising that Chili's really hasn't slowed with all the economy crap...that's good for me!!
