Sonny Smith, manager of the DELUSIONS band introduced me to John at his home. I could not believe how John could sing, compose, play piano and write songs. I spent many afternoons on Tuckerman St while he played his battered upright piano. John arranged the DELUSIONS band's music and kept the members on track during rehearsals. Among all of the temper tantrums and screwups - the DELUSIONS played all over DC and recorded several 45's with his musical arrangements. A few of his published songs became classics, such as "Then Came You", by Dione Warwick & the Spinners and "I Just Don't Want To Be Lonely", by the Main Ingredient. Sighhh, he could have been the next Luther Vandross or other world famous persona. Talented DELUSIONS - Sonny (Issac Hayes audio engineer on the Shaft album) and Davey Yarlborough (Professor at DC Duke Ellington School of the Performing Arts) wrote the theme for the Cosby show.
I hope that other DELUSIONS band members post comments....

Been away from you guys so long and wondered what happened to you all. But had no idea John had done the things he had done and  knew about a few things about you through others. I too miss those days and when I share with my grands they say whow we had no idea you did that , peace , John was a great friend.

My Dear Friend:  I will forever cherish and remember our times together.  The times you use to just come by our house to visit, we would sit on the proch and just talk.  We would laugh a lot. You would always take pictures of everyone. I remember our Paul Jr. High, class trip to New York. I still have the photos in my scrap-book.  I attended your funeral and was so mad/sad and happy.  Sad, because you will no longer be with us, but happy that you are now in a better place where no one will ever hurt you again.  I really miss you...Friends Forever - Janice Day
