I met Mike back in our grammar school days at St. Thomas Church in Waterbury. Nice memories of him throughout the years at Wilby. You will be missed Mike!
I have been friends with Mike since 1968,playing baseball and football at Fulton Park. We found out we were neighbors when he and his wife were walking past my house one time...I found out he wasn't doing well a few years ago and i tried to get the gang together again but it didn't happen..I am going too miss my long time friend....
Mike and I were very close friends in high school. We both graduated from Wilby High School in 1972. We stayed in touch during college breaks and did a lot of things together – on many occasions with another close friend of ours, Michael Mucci. In the late summer of 1985, I flew back from West Germany to visit my sister Margaret who was living in Waterbury at the time. While I was in Waterbury, Mike and I linked up and we went to the German Festival at Hamilton Park. We both had a connection with West Germany, so the German Festival was a real treat. I was totally taken aback at learning that Mike had passed away and that he had suffered from CTE. I have very fond memories of Mike and am very sad that he is not with us anymore. A great loss to his family and everyone who knew him.
So glad to see so many posts from friends and classmates here in Mike's remembrance. I am sorry to see Mike's passing and his quality of life affected by CTE. I want to extend my condolences to his family and friends. We were in a few classes together but my closest friend Dale "Supa Chick" Ciccarelli was on the football team with Mike and Jimmy DeRienzo. So I saw the guys at games and occasionally ran into them afterwards at "The Big Top". My memory is not that good so I don't remember everyone who played football at Fulton Park as much as having to try to run a slant over the middle in the snow to try to get a first down butI do remember Mike as a gentle giant (at least to me at 5' 7') except when he was on the football field. May he rest in peace.
Mike and I were in a few classes together, and he was always a kind gentleman and excited about his football career. So sorry to hear of his passing, and the fact he suffered from CTE , Rest in peace Mike!

Fond memories having Mike as a teammate. May he rest in peace. Hopefully his donation to science will help others with CTE
