Deborah  Maglio Kaplan passed away on April 18, 2004 at the age of 50.   Deb is survived by her husband Jacob Kaplan and son Brian.  Deborah was the brother of Ed Maglio Jr, (the Mad Hatter) class of 1960, a local DJ.   Deborah was also a DJ and went by the name of Sister Hat.  Deborah was always there to help, giving 100 percent of herself.  Sadly, Deborah and Ed passed away withing an hour of each other.   Their passing was a shock to the Waterbury area.   An annual scholarship in Deb and Ed's name is given by the Wilby Alumni Association every year.

I remember the many times when you would tell me stories about John when we were all still kids in grammer school. I also remember those nights in high school listening to John on the radio and calling in for requests. I used to love his shows. I am very sorry to discover this loss after finding this site. I'm sure your loss and the loss of John was felt by more than just a few in the community. You and John had touched so many even when you were kids. You were a good friend Deb since the days of Webster. I still have a similar necklace that I once gave you for your birthday back in the days when we attended Webster. I loved yours so much, I bought a similar one for myself that day. I still think of that birthday party you had whenever I wear it. Rest in peace Deb and John. I know your both still making music and dancing up a storm!

There wasn't anyone that Deb wasn't a friend to. To Jake and his family, my sincerest condolences.
