George Tirado

Mr. Tirado passed away on January 25, 2013 at the age of 59 in Waterbury, CT after a long battle with cancer.    He was a bi-lingual teacher and athletic director at Wilby for 35 years, retiring in June 2011.

He was truly committed to Waterbury's youth and was actively involved with the Waterbury Astros baseball club which provided youngsters with the opportunity to play organized baseball in many of the area leagues.

He was a member of the Silas Bronson Waterbury Hall of Fame, an honored member of the Olympian Club, and served as "Mayor for the Day" and had a basketball court at Wilby High School named in his honor.

George's two sons, George Jr., and Anthony are graduates of Wilby.
