By the time I was at Wilby, Mr. Membrino was already a Principal and of course had one of the hardest jobs though we didn't appreciate it back then as such. The 70's were changing and challenging times in so many ways - we protested agains the war, the dress code, etc. I remember the day he called me into the office to inform me I was valedictorian which came as a surprise to me since we all thought it would be RIchard Leibowitz (salutatorian) who actually was far more scholarly and intelligent than moi. Rest in peace.
