Pedro DeBrito - Class Of 1977

Pedro passed away on July 5, 2014 from injuries sustained in a motor vehicle accident in Miami, Florida.

He graduated from UConn in 1981 where he put the school on the National Soccer Map winning the National Championship.   He was a two time All-American at Connecticut and he still holds the school record for assists in a season with 20.   In 1982 he was the first selection draft pick in the North American Soccer League draft by the Tamps Bay Rowdies, where he earned NASL Rookie of the Year honors and he was drafted onto the U.S. Men's National Team.  He played professionally until 1993 and that includes two seasons with the New York Cosmos.   He was a Major Indoor Soccer League champion in 1987 with the Dallas Sidekicks.

He moved to Miami in 2001 and worked at Drew Estate Cigar Co. for 13 years.
