I first met Luis when my family moved upstairs from his family on Helmholz back in 1962-63 when we were both in 2nd grade. He attended Jackson Elementary and I was at St. Joe's. We became friends immediately even throughout high school and we were roommates at Western Illinois University. Luis was a good guy. He became a policeman for Waukegan and eventually promoting himself to detective before he crossed over in 1996. He was a good friend and brother. "Te veo cuando te veo."
Luis was a very good friend and classmate of mine in the 1970's. We hung out together with a few other buddies. Later, I joined the Marines and Luis went on to the police academy. I saw him a few times after, and remember him giving me a break on a traffics stop. A good man for sure and is missed. Rest in peace and comfort my old friend.
